So... What ya'll think about the Deathwatch codex? Not too many changes other than Special Ammo being available on more stuff and Primaris Boogaloo Part II

Terminators get meaner with Stormbolters pumping out Special Ammo (SA)
Intercessors get meaner with SA
Reiver get dumb with SA
Bikers get super dumb with SA
Frag Cannons got cheaper and are just as glorious.

My problem now is that I despise the size difference between Primaris and regular shorty-bois. Any ideas about having Primaris scale Terminators? I don't like the way Agressors look for conversion purposes.

This is the dilemma with truescale marines. They never had any business being 1mm taller than a Guarsdman. Unfortunately REPLACING them would result in GW being burnt to the ground by angry fanbois...

So factor in "Primaris" An awkwardly expensive unit that is redundant by its predecessors (No that's not a type of Primaris) and whose transport is something a 6 year old got a hold of when it came to aesthetic/guns.

They *should* phase out oldscale but that will be a slippery slope. This isn't AoS. This is their cash cow. They will probably have to wait for a bunch of us sour old vets to die off.

I'm for proper scale as much as I am for upgrading bases. Times change, so does the game.


Are there any other Stratagems we need to be aware of? Special issue ammo is easily their selling point making most units shooting look like Airsoft.

The Tempest Shells strat (D3 mortal wounds to a vehicle from one model shooting) can stack with Hellfire Shells (requires heavy bolter) so that 2D3 Mortal Wounds.

Changing your Doctrine on the fly for 1CP by bringing a Watch Master is pretty neat. Nothing else really jumps out as being dumb besides the Anti-Ork/Tau strats.

Adding +1 to wound vs a force org slot is 2CP, which is pricey for only affecting a single unit. However it says [Deathwatch] Unit so enjoy your Leviathan Dread getting +1 to wound with Grav Bombard.

As far as converting, the Intercessor model makes a decent regular marine with a head/backpack swap and the bolt rifle chopped down some.

Edit: Probably gonna pick up some Scions. ~280 points for 3x5 Scions and 2xTempestors for suicide plasma and +5 CP

If they start making truescale vehicles this hobby will get MUCH more expensive.
Baneblades would replace Leman Russes. Thunderhawks would replace Storm Ravens.
etc.

I wish that they had gone MUCH bigger for the primaris honestly. Right now the primaris are tall enough to be space marines compared to guardsmen. If they wanted primaris to be that much taller than Space Marines then they would have needed to go even taller.

calbanite: I was under the impression "cheesy" was meant for powerful lists using as many broken units/spam as possible. Your list is a weird mix of underpowered, MEDIOCRE(TM) stuff. Not really sure what you are trying to achieve?

DW is fun finally a use for all my marines my fav tactic is to take beacon relic on a jump captain and move in 10 storm bolters
