Question on using index datasheets

I just wanted to be 100%, can Death Guard get access to Dark Hereticus powers at all? 1D4chan seems to think so because you could bring in a regular Sorc and use the index datasheet at codex prices, thus getting CSM powers. Same with the Daemon Prince that the index could bring. Does that mean there are 2 separate entires of DPs that we could take? I don't know if it is a stretch or not, kinda feels like it.

No: you use the most up to date Datasheet (Codex). The exception is for wargear stuff, but you still use the most up to date stuff, just with Index wargear options if you can't take them in Codex.

Unless DG just don't have in the Codex, and could take in the Index, in which case...possibly? (Considering Codex: CSM says DG 'can't make use of any of the following', which includes psychic, I'd still say no regardless of being able to access on datasheet).

I'm not trying to argue if I can or can't, I just want to make sure because if I went DG, I really would want CSM powers. Like Warptime.

See second paragraph: you'd be able to take them, but what psychics you'd be able to use would be...wonky. I'm genuinely not sure (datasheet says X, Codex: CSM says they can't use X, so...) But the datasheet also doesn't give permission for them to take DG powers. Ultimately, this is the sort of thing that could do with an FAQ: but it's 'unsupported' Index rules wonkiness, so may not ever get anything.

Ultimately, you can unambiguously take a sorc as a CSM Legion for it though and still cast on DG: unless you need all 3 dets for your DG, you can just take a patrol of a sorc and 10 cultists as, say, Alpha Legion. Bam, warptime.

You can get Warptime, just have to take a CSM detachment with a Sorc in it.

If you are dead set, gw says a detachment of regular csm gives your death guard access to codex:csm strategies. And there is one that lets a psyker swap a known power for one from dark hereticus. Total That Guy move though.

Death Guard already have the sorceror unit listed in their codex so you can not use the same-name unit from the index for psychic powers the codex version does not have.

Index shrikes work because there are no codex shrikes to replace them with.

Deathguard detachment "legion trait" is advance and shoot rapid/assault with no penalties, so.. it lets him warptime across half the table and still shoot a bolter at 3+? I guess?
