Daemon strat question

Friend of mine and I were discussing Daemon Incursion. It reads: "Use this strategem when one of your Daemon units (other than a named character) is destroyed by a Grey Knights unit. The destroyed unit is returned to your army at full strength, and is set up on the battlefield at the end of your next movement phase, anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 9" from any enemy models. This does not cost you any reinforcement points in a matched play game."

So say he was to use this strat on a Daemon Prince that is his warlord. We agree that the DP would stay the warlord, nothing silly there, but how would this work for warlord objectives? Could you get them twice?

It is specifically against GK, to counteract the fact that GK smite is specifically tailored to kill demons. It would feel really bad playing a demon army against GK otherwise, so this stratagem is basically "have some free points".

Now if they would just do something about Tyrannic war veterans...

The reinforcement point system is pretty slapdash anyway, and I would much rather see that getting some fleshing out than an inconsistent throwing around of how reinforcement stratagems work. The demon one is exceptional in a way that endless swarm is not.



Slay the warlord would work similar to linebreaker, in that you can only get it once no matter how many times you achieve it. There is only 1VP available, and you get it for killing it the first time. The maelstrom cards give no provision for achieving it twice, so would also only grant 1VP. You would proc the "already done it" clause on the card though, so you would not have to achieve it again, even though the warlord is back on the table.

Slay the warlord is only rewarded at the end of the game, but Tactical objectives that refer to killing the warlord could be scored multiple times, provided you have more than one objective card for it in your deck. Thats kinda what pathos was asking about, so, yes, you can kill him multiple times for multiple objectives throughout a game.

Rough example being "+1 vp for killing a psyker this turn, if it was a warlord, +d3 instead", then next turn another kill, another card, "+1 for killing a character, if warlord +d3 instead".

Per above, I would think it would be if the Warlord was dead at the end of the game you would then get the VP.
