Ultramarines provide fire support with the HB scouts to prevent deepstrikers. Chronus gives the quadlas Pred 2+ BS that doesn't degrade.

Meph with the DC in Rhino. Sternguard in Razorbacks. Libby & Lemmy use them for cover while the Captain provides his aura.

I'm hoping there's plenty of shooting for every occasion, anti tank + anti everything else. Sternguard could be good in assaults rapid firing/flamering then assaulting with +1 to wound, could be good. Meph will try and buff the DC while Lemmy provideds re-rolls. Libby Dread & DC Capt. to hunt down the tough stuff.

I like this list. My only suggestion would be to try and find the points for more lascannons. You have plenty of anti infantry so if you could make all the preds quad las then you would have a really solid output there.

Oh hey, tyrantgrift playing BA... going to do the same when I am done painting my Nids, have a bunch of old BA/SM models that I never used, going to make a Flesh Tearers army out of them

For the list, I would never run BA without a full Death Company with Jump Packs, or full Sanguinary Guard. If using Death Company, full squad, 3x Thunder Hammer, 3x Power Axe, 3x Plasma Pistol (axes and pistols on same models). Boltguns instead of Bolt Pistols plus Chainswords on the others. Put them in reserve, use Descent of Angels strat on them, congaline two models to the buffing HQs (they won't all make their charges, even with Lemartes reroll) and go to town.

Libby Dread, nice unique flavor, but I feel it is a trap model. Libby with Jump Pack, Angel's Wing, Wings of Sanguinius + Unleash Rage. Drop him with the blob, use the psychic power + relic to guarantee the charge vs the most dangerous Overwatch unit. That combination looks sooooo strong, like wtf. Only downside is no invul on the Libby.

Instead of Mephiston, use a second Chaplain, and/or the Index Sanguinary Priest with Jump Pack imho (S5 is HUGE for the Death Company, Thunderhammers wounding T8 on 2s, the Axes wounding T5 on 2s, Chainswords wounding T4 on 2s... yummy).

For the Scouts, drop at least one of the HBs. Gives you two cheap throwaway units for anti-DS, and one unit to hold another objective in/near your deployment zone.

Thanks for the replies chaps. BA was my first ever 40k army and the only army I've stuck with over the years. I have decided to put my BA on hold for the moment, all my models are remnants from 6th Edition and they would simply require too much work for me to get them in the state that I would want them for 8th Edition. But I will get round to them... eventually.

That said, my gaming community is running a tournament at the end of next month and I've decided to go with my Tyranids. All I know at the moment is it'll be set at 2000 points and will follow the rules for matched play. The committee may decide on some restrictions at a future date.

For my BA, DC especially, they would require a lot of dissambling and reassembling models, I would also need to buy at least 3 tanks to get them tournament ready. Then I would need to paint everything in this particular list (my 'painted' collection is primarily assault marines and tacticals) in time for the tournament and it just feels like way too much work.

My Tyranids, on the other hand, were purpose built for 8th and to be a tournament style army, plus I already have my core 1500 points painted. So will require much less efort and cash for me to get them ready! I'm posted up a couple of lists in the army list section but no one wants to comment
