Question about negative modifiers for Orkz

Hi all, my main army is Orkz but I have stopped playing them due to not having fun. And I don't play green tide. 

Anyway, I versed an eldar player a week ago and he had -2 to hit a unit. And since I can't hit on 7's it rendered my army useless. Is this correct? Or does it say somewhere I can still hit on 6's or something?! The whole -1 trait has really turned me off my Orkz. Hence why I started playing Tyranids, which is way more fun

That is correct. There is no rule that says "you always hit on x" save for overwatch or a special rule a unit may have. Low BS armies will have the worst time shooting at armies that give negative modifiers.

Also, be careful with Nids because they can play extremely similar to Orks. Quantity over quality, and all that. We dont have the best stats either and can easily fall into the same situation as Orks.

I guess im having more fun with tyranids because Im going more assault and they are faster than orks  

But you are right if I was going a shooting army.

On another note: How is the -1 to hit or more a good idea? so much for play testing this new great edition. everything should be able to hurt everything and all, but not when you can't hit. I feel it should of been just adding to your save, like Jormungandr. Because it's not a fun game for anyone when you make a whole army useless. It's literally wasted points. I just hope the codex will help out Orkz.

Orks will be fine once their codex hits. They have even won a few GTs in the 8th. The thing to remember is that the -2 to hit only happens if you are more than 12" away. If you get within 12" it won't matter.

I too am concerned about cumulative negative modifiers to hit and their present role in 8th edition's design. It seems very powerful.

I think the - to hit is the only answer to basically anything great being 2/3+ to hit. Especially with rerolls. Orkz don't really shoot much other than Lootas and Tankbustas anyways. I have only played 2 games as them in 8th though so that is a very limited scope.

Sluggas don't care in combat, Ghaz doesn't care with his Klaw, and Burna Boys want to be in their face. Also a Telyport on a 30 man blob cares not for 12". It would be nice to see them get a reduction to -1 instead of -1 themselves but I doubt that.
