Apologies in advance, but I only got the idea of making a thread for this after I had already finished assmbling the claws. I hope this will still be useful to someone regardless!
So. At least for the Index, the monstrous rending claws are by far the best melee weapon option for the tyrant, while the swords are terrible. Since I got myself a second hive tyrant kit, and I already had 4 magnetized sword arms to use for the Swarmlord, I figured... why not use the new bonesabre arms as a basis for the MRC? ...so I did!
Step 1, you obviously want to free and desprue the bonesabre arms, and attach the smallarmor plate to the back of the hand. Then, you want to Cut off the swordblade just above the hand, as well as the little handle bit that is sticking out underneath.
Step 2, you want to acquire yourself some leftover talon bits from other monster kits. I mainly used leftover ones from the Mawloc/Trygon kit, since that one has a ton of extra ones. Another option would be the talons from the Tfex/Tervigon kit, which would go on the belly for the Tfex and are leftovers if you build it as a Tervigon.
Step 3, (this is where I sadly don't have a good image)... You want to take slices off the knuckles of the tyrant hands, cutting them down a bit and providing you a good smooth surface to glue on something else. If you want to put 3 claws per hand, like I have, you will want to have the knuckle area of the fist look something like this:

That way you can have the talons point in 3 slightly different angles. Which is the next step: Take the claw bit, and take a slice off the bit that would connect it to the body, so that you get a smooth surface there too. Now that you have smooth surfaces on the claw-bits and on the knuckles, the two can easily be glued together.
Step 4 (optional): Carve the palm-side of the hand a bit to make it look smoother in the place where the sword handle should be. In particular, you can carefully cut out a little gap between the thumb and the rest of the hand, else the thumb (and the talon on the thumb) will look a bit too thick.
Step 5: dry-fit the talons to the knuckles and see if they are pointing a direction that looks good. If they don't, you can adjust that angle by taking thin, angled slices off the connection bit (or the knuckles themselves).
Step 6: Glue on the talons.
Step 7: Magnetize the arms (or don't, if you like living dangerously), and put them on the tyrant!
Your tyrant is now ready to go wolverine on the opposition.
I feel like the absence of WIP-photos might make it a bit tricky to understand, but if there are questions or critique, feel free to tell. I hope this is going to be useful for someone, at least. ^^;
