Tank Questions...

Ok so some questions regarding tanks...

Q1: How are landraiders? I was thinking maybe one of the FW ones could be good..

Q2: How hard you guys think it would be to convert a Baneblade, to have all weapon options being swapable?

Q2: How hard would it be to convert a Baneblade into some of the FW tanks (Fellblade and similar)?

1) better than before, and now there is an HQ landraider, for those all land raider speartips.

2) magnets make life better

1). Landraiders are pretty good, they hard lots of firepower and depending on who your opponent is can be damn impossible to kill. 4 Lascannons and 6 heavy bolters, mixed with carrying multiple squads on a 16 wound T8 2+ buncker is just dumb. No idea about the Forge World ones, but after seeing the rules for the Spartan I bet they're over powered too. The Spartan is only a 20 W Land raider but has the firespower of 2 of them for the price of 1.5 raiders so it's way too good. So of course all the Space Marine players around here have them.

2). Banebaldes are made so they're super easy to convert I picked up 1 for my Orks to look and was surprised at how easy it is to make. If you construct the treads, under-body and back but leave the middle unfinished then you'll be easy to swap out the options, even without magnets. The only issue I had was the different front plate between the Baneblade and the Stormlord is slightly different so you'll need to do a little converting to get it to match up for both tops, but a little bit of plasticard and time and you're golden. I could take a few pictures of mine if you'd like to show more or less how it looks. Personally I left if switchable to use it as either a Skullhamma or a Kustom Battle Fortress, might as well get as much use out of it as possible right?

3). As for the Forgeworld variants, I think unless you're quite skilled with Plasticard and Greenstuff you're going to have a bad time. The body style is so different you might not even want to try, you'd be better off just making the guns from scratch and have them switchable with the main gun. The actual turret is different but I think you can get away with it well enough if you just have good looking guns for it. The only parts that the FW and the GW model have in common is the main body part, besides that everything else is different. I mean, the FW models look super cool as the guys I game with have a Fellbalde and Glaive respectively, but trying to make the whole tank with just a Baneblade box is gonna be difficult.

I made what I call my Omniraider a few years back. Printed out the loadouts of all the Land Raider variants and figured out how to put them all together with magnets. The hardest was the Ares. I spent probably $150 on it mostly from buying a ton of crusader upgrade sprues for the extra sponson bits. Not sure if they even still sell those, but they were super handy for that.

I also built a baneblade that can be any of its standard box variants. Not too hard, but got a little tricky at a couple points. I think I settled on hard locking a couple bits in slightly different positions, but nobody ever gave me grief over the minor differences. I can still have either the hard fixed barrel or the turret in place. I made the mistake of not magnetizing all the sponson mounts so I can't fully upgrade it with all options, but it is still pretty cool.

The forgeworld variants are much more challenging. I looked into it for a while but eventually decided that it wasn't worth the effort.

Humm... here people aint super picky with how accurate things are, as long as you can kinda see what it is, and its consistent.
I'm leaning to Landraider Prometheus (I think it was called), with a multi-melta and 2 Quad Heavybolters, it should be able to put out quite a bit of dmg.
