Hi all. I wanted to start putting out some of my 8th ed marine lists to help the hive get and idea of what they can do, and also get any feedback you have based on playing with or against this army in this edition as I have only played games with nids.
I wanted to start by only using models I have built. I am not sold on the techmarine, but it seemed like a way to help boost the vehicles survival. I feel like this army has a really strong shooting output. The assault squad is just there to add bodies and maybe tie up a fast moving unit or screening unit to keep my shooters shooting. The goal is to provide rerolls to as many units as possible with the captain from range and then jump in to support in melee where extra punch is needed.
This is what I came up with:
Battalion:
Captain: bike, thunder hammer, storm shield (140)
Techmarine: bike(89)
3x5 tac marines: grav cannon in each squad (93x3)
3 Razorbacks: twin assault cannon (100x3)
10 Assault marines
5 devestators: 2 lascannon, 2 heavy bolter
Landraider Crusader: twin assault cannon, hurricane bolters (287)
Air wing:
Stormraven: twin multimelta, hurricane bolters, twin assault cannon (311)
2xStormtalon: 2 heavy bolters, twin assault cannon. (165)
Just on vehicles this is 84 str 6 shots, and with hurricane bolters get as high as 48 str 4 shots from 12" in. The only elite shooting comes from a couple of lascannons and multi meltas/missiles on the Stormraven but my hope was that weight of fire would carry the day, especially adding in some d3 damage from grav and extra heavy bolter shots from the devs.
