Hi! I've a bunch of Tyranid conversions to post. First up is my new Flyrant. Out of work, so not wanting to spend on another Flyrant, but lists can always use more than one, right?
I'm short on bits after lots of kitbashing (more on this later), but I have a lot of MDF offcuts from making scenery kits up. So I started on this when I should have been doing a design job...
That was the basic frame made up. The tail gun will be The Miasma Cannon. Seems like a suitably gross analogue for a giant mutated Tyraninsect sting, right? Plus flying one around is gonna mess up some Guardsmen.
I did the Green Stuff in stages, giving good time to dry between. Where I didn't leave enough I had to fix things, so I'm trying to get more disciplined in not trying to do everything and betting sad when it's Fingerprint City. I use Colour Shapers to form the putty, plus often cut or sand it when dry.
Next stages:
I decided it needed little gribbly arms so it still had the required six. They can represent it's base CC attacks. Top arms are magnetised for options.

The carapace is split open like a beetle's. The wings will be dragonfly style. I have opaque thin plasticard cut, but feel I may well need translucent/transparent instead.
Now, at no point did I check sizing of model or base against a regular GW HT. I was worried he was a little small.
Here's how he matches up:
Huge! But I like it. I'll post a shot with wings mocked up on her later - playing against a Guard army at about 3pm. Wish her (and me) luck!
