How do you go about setting your army for the Deep Sleep?

I want to play, I really do. And about once a month I get ~1hr of painting in. Mostly I have some favorite units on shelves so I can see them often and think of the memories we've had together. I'm not asking for how to box things up, but how do you mentally prepare to bow out for a while? My projected hobby time is just shrinking and shrinking, to the point where it seems like it will be a few years before I get in a game or two. Ugg.

Hopefully this is just me blowing off steam, at being frustrated for not having 36 hour days and not having the responsibilities of when I first started playing a few years back.

I must say, it WAS exciting watching GSC rumors ramp up, then rules trickle in. That was fun.

I know the struggles bro. I leave all my stuff out to keep looking at them, you can't move away from it really. I work 45 hours a week and have to balance work/life/girlfriend all the time. I haven't played a game in 5 months. But when ever I get the time to paint and build I take it. It's hard to give up somthing you dedicated so much time and effort into to just drop it or forget about it. I just came to terms with myself that yeah, I love the hobbie but it's still there, and there will always be a little time for it but I gotta do more important stuff. We got all the time we need for it.....just not the money lol.
Take it a little at a time don't give it up and be content.

I'll never give it up me thinks. Last time I took a break it was easy, military deployment. That was a while ago. I suppose it does me harm nor good to leave them as they are. So, shelves staring at me, glaring at me, waiting for me to pick them up and go forth to consume, is where I can safely sit for a bit.

I just do other things. I am too busy to devote a lot to 40k right now.

Similarly to Giga I'd guess, just have a lot of stuff going on. Thankfully I like the stuff going on, so much. Just wish we had that extra few hours a day.

I'm pretty much in the same boat (un)fortunately. I was really looking forward to building and playing a GSC army as I haven't really used my Nids in a couple of years, but I ended up buying the business I mentioned a while back somewhere round here and am pretty much working 7 days a week at the moment. Hard, long hours but really rewarding, just doesn't leave time for much else.

As you say, if someone could arrange to get a couple of hours tacked on to each day, I would be eternally grateful.

I hold onto the idea that sometime in the not too distant future once everything settles down I'll be able to find the time again.

My models live in a room I don't often use, but I keep my books on the coffee table to read and remind me. (and of course browsing the forum almost daily)

+1 barbedsparky . I think I've read my paperback codexii almost as much this year as when it was the active codex. Pretty fun to go back and look for changes (or dare I say, how they have biocodexmorphed!) in both story and stats. Totally see the allure of fandexing old goodies with updated stuff or corrections. Sometimes, as I lay my head down to sleep, I dream I am a prime, directing, controlling, consuming a planet... ahhh sweet dreams.
