while I do not have a malanthrope head I have been told my customised version worked well:

all you need is a basic carnifex head, clip off the bottom jaw, now get 3 spore mines from the harpy/ crone box (ones with long 'tails') clip off the sac of the spore mine and greenstuff the 'tails' to the lower carnifex jaw, then simply spraypaint and hey presto.
