Tyrannofex 5th Edition Mod

Sup Hive. So recently I bought the Tyrannofex kit, not because I really think they're all that effective as a unit, but more because way back when I first started playing, the Tyrannofex was my first ever conversion. I loved the codex art, with the jaw fused to the gun barrel. Sooo I gave it an attempt from a Trygon kit, and the result was something my local group came to call the "dildo-fex". I don't have a photo, but yeah, it was accurate. So, when the new kit came out, I was ecstatic....until I saw that the Fex was cradling its bio-cannon like an underslung firearm rather than having it merged with its head. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful model; the arched back, massive spore chimneys, giant legs and bent forelimbs make for a seriously intimidating model. So, I decided I would try to make a Tyrannofex the way I wanted to see it. I didn't wanna call this a "conversion" since I wasn't actually "converting" anything; no, this is more like a mod. A mod to the codex page of 5th edition. 

So here's the body. 

 

Pretty basic, just the regular spindly set up for the big bug. 

Next, I took a dremel to the jaw. 

 

Used some of the bio-cannon tubes to pipe the acid spray weapon...

 

Aaaaand then some liquid green stuff to make them look more "fused". 


 

Added a few more details, plopped on more green stuff, a voila, my fifth edition Fex is (mostly) done.



It's not gonna win any modelling contests, but definitely better than the first conversion I did years ago. Also, I'm interested in the Hive's thoughts, were you ok with the underslung cannon?

that's gnarly. going to be ungainly on the table due to how far that gun sticks out though. that would run me nuts.

I think you could get away adding a pair of scytals so it looks like it has six legs. I don't really see anything that suggeststs it has that las ppair. would also be cool to see how you would do the other weapons, even if no actual assembly is done.
