I've been playing 40k for about 5 years or so now but I would say the time I had the most fun was during 5th edition with a chaos daemons Fatecrusher army! I guess I enjoyed the concept of an angry bird with some even angrier bulls hitting the enemy lines and just not dying! Now I know rules wise, codex and rulebook, that a competitive army of that nature no longer exists, which is okay. However, for my own enjoyment sake to play with friends and what not I wanted to re-vamp this army into 7th edition terms. The army is strictly for casual play/ enjoyment purposes, so if anyone has any feedback on what might make it more fun then please comment!
2,000 point Fatecrusher (7th edition Chaos daemons combined arms detachment)
Kairos Fateweaver - Warlord
Skulltaker - Juggernaught
Herald of Khorne - Juggernaught, exalted locus of wrath, Greater reward (take the greater etherblade)
Herald of Khorne - Juggernaught, greater locus of fury, Greater reward (take the greater etherblade)
Bloodcrushers of Khorne x3 - Bloodhunter, lesser reward (take the axe of khorne)
Pink Horrors of Tzeentch x11
Pink Horrors of Tzeentch x11
Daemon Prince - Daemon of Tzeentch, Daemonic Flight, Warp - Forged Armour, Mastery Level 3, Exalted Reward (take the Grimoire of True Names), Greater Reward
Soul Grinder of Chaos - Mark of Tzeentch, Phlegm bombardment
(Chaos Daemons allied detachment)
Be'Lakor, The Dark Master
Nurglings x3
Yeah so here was my general gameplan! Crushers center the army for deployment purposes (preferably in cover). Contrary to popular belief I think I will have Skulltaker (T5, eternal warrior) and the other toughness 5 heralds out front to avoid as much instant death / utilize Look Out Sir as much as possible. The prince and Be'Lakor will flank the crushers on each side. Obvious strategy here is to get shrouding and invisibility off from Be'lakor on to the crushers ASAP and stick the grimoire on them or fateweaver (use fateweavers re-roll make sure this has a good chance of going off, worst case scenario). Daemon prince will roll on Biomancy for buffs. Fateweaver will be behind the crushers throwing out supporting powers where need be. These models will, for the most part, doing most of the work for this force. They will be charging ahead in coherency and work together as best as possible to cause some destruction on the table top. Skulltaker is there for challenges and because why not I guess. The two heralds and bloodhunter having AP2 weapons will give the unit some chance against 2+ armour
I'm thinking the pink horrors will be deployed in cover at the start of the game and roll on daemonology. Obviously my model count isn't great so summoning for this force could be useful to get troops on the board. Depending on the scenario they will either stay planted in cover for kill point games or maneuver around for objective taking purposes.
Not quite sure what to do with the soul grinder, more of a point/anti vehicle unit choice to fill points. Probably move up with the bulk of the force and fire away.
Nurglings will come on from reserve.
Let me know what you guys think! Obviously the army is based all off of chance that a select few powers will get off on a select few units. However, I think it'll be fun, or at least interesting to say the least to try it against my buddies. Their armies include space wolves, eldar and necrons. Again NOT MEANT to be competitive!
