OK, so this is my first RP, and if you don't want to join because of that, then tough.
The storyline goes like this: In the dark tunnels of Varin IV, they are stirring. They came on the ghost ship that landed here not four weeks ago. I told them to not let the ship land, to blow it out of the sky. I told them what what on that ship, but no one listens to me! I'M JUST A CRAZY OLD MAN! HA! Now they know better, know they know that us crazies are sometimes right! In the tunnels, they are hunting. The Governor has sent for assistance, but they won't come in time to save us. They are new Lictors, the kind we faced on Darrious. They're stealth is unparalleled, with the strength unlike any beast I have ever seen in my years as one of the Guard. They are here, and they need to start feeding. In the tunnels, they want flesh.
I need only four people to be the squad of Ultramarine Space Marines that have landed to aid the threatened hive world. Just create a profile that looks like this;
Name: Brother Marcus Age: 120 years Extras: White hair and pale skin, armed with a bolter and his lucky hunting knife. Is a veteran of many battles against the Tyranid threat.
I'm only taking the first four, any more and it might get a tad bit confusing. Then we can get started.

OK then, let's start.
The marines landed in the holding port, met by the Governor and his bodyguard. Each stood a good head over each beefy guardsman, putting them to shame. “What are we facing here, Governor?” Darius asked coldly, “A Genestealer infestation? A Lictor running around?” At this, Regulus stiffened. He had heard of the Lictor known as the Death Leaper, and he yearned for the honor of slaying the beast that had slaughtered his mentor and friend. “They are Lictors, of that much we are sure, but they are different. Stronger, faster, by the emperor they can’t even be tracked on the scanners! They have no heat signatures and even their psychic signatures are hidden from my witches!” “How many of them are there?” Voltan asked curiously. There couldn’t be more than four, he reasoned to himself. “We are unsure, but the only survivor of our last attack said he saw hundreds!” “Are they contained?” “In the mining section not two miles from here. We’ve seen them get over the walls though, so I would be wary in all occasions. As you can see,” the Governor motioned to his guards, “I need to be extra cautious. One that got over the wall almost stabbed me, but luckily a guardsman get close enough to kill one.” “Close enough?” Regulus laughed, “Why would you want to get close to one of these Lictors?” “Because,” the Governor sighed, “you can’t see them if they are more than five feet away.” Darius took a sharp breath in, aware what this would mean. If they didn’t kill every single one of these beasts, then they could just hide away, never to be found. And in the Hive World, there is a lot of places to hide.
What do you guys want to do first?

"We need to set up perimiter (i love sounding professional), station guardsmen everywhere, then go to the mining section, and find a way to track these things. Flamers may also be a good idea. "I've dealt with lictors before, but nothing this serious, keep a sharp eye out, and when i say sharp, it should be able to pierce power armour"

I'll follow eet's lead, but I suggest that we use some of these beefy guardsman as meat shields, so that the lictors chomp down on the entrees, giving us time to shoot them down...

"Give me that map." Darius ordered the sergeant. The guardsman produced the map of the mining section, and quickly rejoined his men. "We need to position your men along the wall, preferably in groups of three or four. Set them up here," he motioned to multiple places along the map he deemed to be significant to the defense. The Governor looked over the map with some satisfaction. "You sound like you have done this before." "Many times." Darius answered coldly. The Governor backed off quickly. "The job of these men is to keep the Lictors in, obviously, but I want a second ring of men outside the wall defending the city's entrances. We don't want a single one to get out." "Oh yah, by the way," Regulus cut in, "We are going to be taking your bodyguards." The Governor's face went pale. "You can't do that! What happens if one of those creatures comes after me! And besides," he quickly changed track, "why would you want them anyway." "Because," Voltan added before Regulus could say what he really wanted them for, "we need their experience in fighting these things. They could be of aid when tracking them." The Governor let out a deep sigh. "I guess there is nothing I can do about it is there?"
The Marines stopped at the locked gate to the mining section. The guardsmen looked uneasy, but the marines stood resolute. The quiet Wolfe stepped forward and pushed the door open. It opened with a slow and heavy moan, the joints broken with unused ware. Regulus shoved one of the men forward through the door. The man fell on his face inside of the plaza, and started to scream. All around him were limbs and unknown parts of men who so desperately tried to escape the horrors inside the section. The marines followed, boots crushing the bones beneath. There were three streets ahead. One off to the far right, covered with debris and parts of buildings. According to the map, the path led to the housing part of the section. The center road led to the main shaft. It was completely empty, even of blood. The last road to the far left was covered with bodies, or parts of them, and led to shaft B, long abandoned because of loss of materials. This road, however, was being overshadowed by a group of guardsmen stationed on the wall next to it. These roads where surrounded by ghost buildings, their empty windows stared down at the marines hauntingly.
What next?

well before going in i would like to grab a heavy flamer and as many grenades as i can carry (those things can do a world of good in tight spots). Now before we go in we search every building, make sure their isn't even a ripper outside of the control zone before we go in.
each marine can take a squad of guard and clear out a sector of the city, that should speed things up.
Tam.

ill start searching as i sweep the center path using the guard to sweep each building on either side if one yells ill lob a bunch of grenades into the building he is in then riddle it with bullets

yes actually, grenades would be good (but as a Tyranic War Veteran i think i already have them, the kraks are great for elliminating fexes).
As for spliting up, it sounds good, but it might be stressful for the universe (psycho) to do 4-5 paths at once. If we remain together the left path looks like the cake, but we should take the others first, just to be sure.

OOC: I wasn't going to be that transparent and cavalier about the guardsmen...oh well....
I reckon we should stay together, these things are tough, and splitting up just makes us weaker, also we should lob frag grenades into every enclosed space we find, if blood randomly splashes everywhere we shoot...
