Possible way to save magnets on mid size + creatures?

I was reading the thread on how to fix a magnet that was glued in the wrong polarity and people mentioned drilling out the magnet and how others just used a nail head as the metal inside the arms (which is a great idea btw!)

That got me thinking... would it be possible to buy screws the same width as the magnet desired, drill it straight through the centre of the model (socket through thorax to socket) and then simply clip the screw at both ends, essentially creating a metal pole with flat ends running from socket to socket? Then magnetizing the arms (polarity becomes a much easier issue now) and bobs your uncle. Already I can see it becoming difficult to maybe getting a flush flat end on the inside of a socket.. but I'm sure we could come up with easy or creative ways of making the end so that the arms sit well. It basically saves on half the magnets and lets be honest, 100 screws compared to X magnets is much cheaper.

What do you all think? Plausable or pipe dream?

Sure, no reason it won't work. But magnet to magnet is the strongest. One guy on here uses screw heads, giving him full movement unlike magnets.

with smaller arms like warriors, i find that the head of a drywall nail works best. use a saw to cut it off, drill a hole in the ball of the arm and lock it in with glue and greenstuff. yes, its not the strongest bond... the arm might wiggle some... but does that really matter in the long run?
