flyrant conundrum

So I've just recieved my new flyrant kit that I'm planning on shaping into a melee flyrant for the skytyrant swarm, and he'll have all the toys WYSIWYG because why not: Reaper, Maw Claws, Ymgarl factor.

1st problem: modeling feet, wings, reaper, and rending claws while using 6 limbs... i dont WANT to put the wings on the back and make him 8 limbed, but it might be what i end up on doing. any tips on that?

2nd problem: modeling an acceptable reaper. I was actually thinking of building a scythe-like weapon out of spare bits, and a standard lashwhip, but idk how im going to go about that.

last problem: modeling Ymgarl Factor. I've seen people greenstuff tentacles on the flyrants face, but i wanted to use the standard screaming tyrant/swarmlord head. any other options for that?

1st problem: how would the tox/mal middle legs look used in the lowest limb socket for the claws? Then you can do the reaper and wings as normal.

2nd problem: Swarmlord swords, either one blade as normal or use two blades, side by side or one up one down like Darth Maul's funky two bladed lightsaber

maw claws? modify the end of the tail to be a maw...with claws
a tyrant tail is big enough and flat, I can already see the end of it being shaped like a cobra collar that covers a rounded mouth (cut the bit from the hive structures in the stealers box)
remove the "scythes" and add some fingers from the gants sprues and you can have a mix of this

and this

small implant attack (stealers' one has a good size ratio) and genetic storage sacs, or eggsacs to commemorate the parasyte of mortrex optional

or alternatively you could convert a dimachaeron-like opening chest-maw, or some particular mandibles connected to the head with little vertebral columns (warriors box has some) to represent a more psychic absorption, or hidralisk-like split doublejaws

for the reaper there're a lot of possibilities
who said the lash whips must be modelled on its hand? if you don't choose the tail-maw you could end the tyrant's tail with some new thropes whips

bioelectric awesomness optional
the tentacles can also be put on the chest a la flesh hooks
or you could go full "lord of the flying swarm" and make some flying rippers or mini tentaclids flying around it (bats swarms bats in fantasy offer iniziative modifiers in cc)

once you've 2 arm slots free for the bonesword you can make it a pair (you've got an additional attack from your setup after all), I would recommend a conversion using the guards' ones that are shorter, better for a quick flying fighter and they also seem to be more...cruel than the tyrant's, I don't know ho to express it

if you're good with greenstuff and plasticard a nice touch would be curving them to look like scythes, not scything talons or grim reaper's scythe but like this one

if you want both the tentacles and the sword to be on the same pair of limbs you could fuse them both and make your flyrant use hooked flails, with very big hooks at the end


for the ymgarl mutation you don't really need to add much, but if you want it represented on the model and don't want to be tentacles, you could just add some smaller tongues around the main one like it is done with the biotitan, or convert a particular form for the horn, or add some eyes, I've found that tyrants can be converted easily to have 3 pairs of eyes without using greenstuff, you just need to excavate a little pair of eye sockets on the cheecks right below the main ones while the other can be obtained from the cavity behind them
to make the little eyes I used some plastic from the sprues, the ones ending with a rounded point
or the mutation may be represented through a distinct paintjob later

Ended up wussing out, putting the wings on the back. i gave him an adrenal gland on his back, the swarmlord head, custom maw-claws, and a standard lwbs, all on the ground. I'll paint his sword to be sparking, and his horn-blade to be sparking as well, to convey his "psychic power" or "changey-ness" or some BS like that. Pics when the GS hardens.

Still sounds cool thou, btw the legs on the flyrant kit are his scything talons. Strange eh I wanted to do lash whip bonesword and give him a shooting weapon too.

Rending claws would have been easy. Just replace the feet with grabby talons. which vould be made in a number of ways. There are the maleceptor/toxicrene hands, you could make them with the little claws of a trygon and minimal use of GS, no actual sculpting skill required, you'd just need to smoothen it.

I completely circumvented the "limb problem" by going with insect wings on my bugs.

That's exactly what I'd do Yautja.

The feet could always be converted to rending claws/maw claws. That's how I rigged my shrikes, wings on top, scything talons in the middle and rending claws where the legs should be. Check out Leech's out harpy conversion before the official kit came out. I love those feet.
