Tyrannocyte with opening and closing carapaces

Finally figured out how to make the carapace open and close without using a bajillion magnets.



I basically cut holes in the body so that the carapace arms could slide in and out. Magnets on the outside allow carapace to be modeled in the 'open' position.



A cylinder glued inside with more magnets allow it to be 'closed'



What do you think? A complete waste of time and fifteen magnets? Or fun and interesting idea?

Thats an amazing and highly creative idea kudos to you sir. I also love how you modeled the tentacles to be facing up as if it is flying down to make planet fall.

Thanks gigasnail and wolfkin03. I originally glued the tentacles upwards so that I can use it as a Sporocyst but have decided that your explanation is better. I'm pretty sure I'll never use it as a Sporocyst. But I've said that sort of thing before and been wrong.

Thats excellent, how much effort was it to cut the hollows for the arms(?) or the carapace.

Thanks for the comments. It was a bit of a pain in the arse really. I buggered it up completely on my first Tyrannocyte and had to glue the carapace closed to cover up my terrible-awful. I cut the holes on the second model before I assembled it, which was much easier. I put more detail in my blog if you're interested.
