Hi everyone, new (future) Tyranid player here. Firstly I would like to apologize for the bluntness / rudeness of this post, especially considering it's my first one on this forum. It might have been more polite to first introduce myself somewhere. But I found this board, and I really need my question answered, so I just go ahead and ask it immediately. Secondly I ask forgiveness from the moderators - I hope they won't judge my post to be a breach of the GW intellectual property rules. I hope they allow this thread to exist long enough for me to find an answer to my question. Right, on to the issue then...
I bought a "How to paint" iBook from GW earlier this week, stupidly without realizing that I need actual apple HARDware to be able to read it. They allowed me to buy and download the file using iTunes on my Windows PC, so I figured that I should be able to use it, but alas, no. The file has DRM protection which allows it only to be read on Mac computers and iPads. Which I don't have.
The book in question is the "How to paint Citadel Miniatures: Tyranids", the interactive iBook version. So yeah, I legally bought it, payed for it, and now they won't let me even use it. I dont really want to download an illegal copy as I consider it to be stealing, but even if I wanted to, I cannot find a PDF of this particular iBook anywhere (already searched for it).
The thing is that I am wanting to start up a Tyranid army, and paint them in the Kraken, or Leviathan colour scheme. In order to prepare for this, I searched all over the internet, but did not find a tutorial that made them look EXACTLY like the GW ones. Then I bought the iBook. I fear that I might have some form of OCD (seriously) because I have no creativity of my own, but I am quite good at copying things, but then i want to make it perfect from the start, so my mind keeps racing about the task at hand until i have found a way to do it perfectly. I am scared of making mistakes. So that's why I wanted the exact step-by-step GW way of painting the colour scheme. It drives me crazy to know that i have that file right there on my computer but unable to read it. I am even considering buying a secondhand iPad somewhere, spending another 50+ euros on this. It sounds ridiculous, and it is, but I'm so desperate i might just do it. Just for a handful of step by steps from the official company that suplies my plastic addiction.
My question is the following. Would it be possible to find a friend or family member who owns an iPad or a Mac computer;. transfer the file to them; take screenshots of every page; and send me all the screenshots via USB, dropbox, email; for me to compile into a PDF file that I can use? I am not planning to do this for piracy purposes, purely to let me use the product I payed for.
Since I don't know anyone who owns Apple products, dare I ask another question: is there anyone here, who actually owns this iBook? And who could give me a rundown of the GW way of painting the Leviathan and Kraken colour scheme? Basically I need the names of the all the paints that they use for every part of the Tyranids body, from basecoat to little details such as the eyes. To satiate my OCD completely i would still need the actual pictures of the iBook, but since I guess it's illegal to ask for, and share, such information on this forum board, I will not ask such a thing.
Please help. I'm driving crazy over here.
Oh and before anyone suggests, I already searched for software that can crack the iBook's DRM, and it doesnt exist anymore. It used to, but Apple made it go away I guess.
Anyone help or advice?
