Hey, Hive, how ya doin'? You know what sucks? Lurking because you're a newbie and you don't feel comfortable enough to post your opinions just yet. Maybe you feel intimidated by the more experienced members. Or maybe you just haven't come across anything to talk about yet. The Welcome Thread is nice and all (btw, if you haven't introduced yourself yet you should totally get on that) but it's a bit bloated and is really more of a guestbook these days than anything else. This is something a tad more informal. So here's a thread to ingratiate yourselves a bit. Post about where you live, what your interests are and just make yourself feel comfortable. If you have something in common with someone, mention it. Hey presto! You just earned yourself a friend on the internet! Won't all the kids at school be jealous when they hear about this? (They won't, so probably not a good idea to brag or anything. Also there's a good chance you might be too old for school in which case definitely don't mention it to the kids there.) Then if you feel it warrants it, start a thread about said common interest. Finally you'll have someone you can talk to about all those taxidermy classes you've been taking! As for you veterans, here's the chance to regale everyone with your tales of old! Like remember that time we all started posting photoshopped pictures of orca whales? Yeah... that was kinda weird actually. Maybe just be friendly and introduce yourselves to the new folks. And, hey, maybe you'll learn something about the other oldies you never knew. Protip: Try talking to people directly when you post here. This isn't just a Welcome thread clone and conversation is encouraged. Like, "Hey Geneva. You sure are awesome! How do you manage to always stay so witty and approachable?" Really. It's that easy! We don't bite. Once you get on username basis with people this board will really start to grow on you. Trust me. Disclaimer: This is not a general discussion thread. We've had those before and they inevitably devolve into an absolute trainwreck filled with in-jokes and questionable content so our all-knowing, all-powerful mods and admins simply don't allow 'em. If you do feel the need to discuss a specific topic at length just make a thread or even send someone a PM. That's kind of the point of this thread after all.

Yeah, would love to see new people post in this subforum more often. I suppose only a margin of them scroll this far down, heh. But the where do you live/work threads were insanely popular.

Hey, how ya doin'? Yeah. I guess threads where it's hard to get the answer wrong come with less pressure to come up with a response. Hopefully we can get some new faces posting outside of the 40k boards and give the forum's community a good kick in the butt. I miss all the old nonsense threads. Even the orca whales. Especially the orca whales. Psst! New members. Ask about the orca whales! That's a decent icebreaker for ya right there.

Hi genevaman , i'm here for about 1,5 years and still newbie to this forum. Now i have seen this thread and i think It is a good thing for me. I have posted not many things cause i am extrem limited in time and i think that, if i open up à discussion and don't answer, It will not throw à good light on me. The other reason is, that, years ago, i had made bad expierience in other forums. So thats why i'm really careful ,perhaps à little bit to much. So this thread comes at the right time for me. So a little bit about me: I live in germany ,near frankfurt i've got a son who is 8 years old( and who had started orks with the new dex ). I am 32 years old and playing warhammer for about 17 years. At the moment i've got 23000 points nids but my swarm is growing regulary. Cause of the limited time i can't play tournaments and i'm happy to play one game in a week. 3 times in the year i make a apogame( next will be in 2weeks ) which i try to make different as possible. But i've got other things to do too, like playing insanely modded fallout and going to technopartys. I like this forum and i will try to post more. So what is with the whales? Hey, how ya doin'? Hey, hivenecerna. Yeah, I totally get that feeling. There have been more than a few threads I've started where people have given all sorts of interesting opinions and arguments only for me to respond with a flaccid 'Thanks!' about a week later. Sometimes you just don't have the time of day to spend. I don't think anyone will begrudge you for it though. At least I hope not. Those pitchforks and torches outside my window surely can't be angry TTH members, can they? Also, yikes, that's a lot of models. I'm glad someone asked about the whales! Only now that it comes to it, I can't think of any way to explain it... Orca whales just became a random obsession for a little while and there seemed nothing unusual about clicking on a thread about food or something only to find someone had posted a picture of an orca whale floating around the moon. I think it originally started on a thread about conspiracy theories as a joke that orca whales are secretly behind everything. So, yeah, welcome to The Tyranid Hive: Posting Edition. The General Board is a little slow right now but that's nothing new. It has it's odd moments of life from time to time once people get to know each other a bit better so here's to seeing that happen again. Hope we see you around on other threads too. Also, your team won me a week's rent in the World Cup this year so cheers for that.

Hi everyone. I'm not exactly 'new' new here and I've posted before but I am still really new to the game and I don't post as much as I would like to. I don't really know what else to say but I like anime, cosplaying and video games. And weren't you called Geneva-man before or am I just going crazy?

Hey, how ya doin'? Hey... you. Sorry, your username kind of makes my brain hurt when I try to use it in a sentence. I think there might have been an anime thread recently enough but if not feel free to start one of your own. I'd love to swap recommendations and talk general Nippon nonsense. I haven't cosplayed myself in years. Not since I was fifteen I think. But there are almost certainly others and definitely people who have just dressed up for special occasions. A costume thread could be cool. Of course, video games are always a hit on the forum. And, yeah, you're not insane. At least, not as far as I can tell yet. I decided to drop the 'man' part of my username. It wasn't exactly fitting for a guy who skips watching 90 minute football matches to stuff his face with truffles and read Charlotte Bronté novels in his room.

Hey, how ya doin'? That's Not Even My Name: Ha! By all means work away. It's been a while since I've been quoted in a signature. Plus I'm pretty sure a lot of people here still know me as that member who watches dumb pony cartoons so I doubt it's going to hurt my reputation much.

I'm definitely not new, though I can hardly say I'm an old member. But if nothing else I'd bet either of my arms that I'm hardly familiar to more than a handful of people now.
I actually missed the orca obsession, but I still know they're real big jerks just meddling with everything. If I'm allowed to share my favourite memory of this place was the user made comic strips from some years ago with the user avatars to represent users of the forum. Also the, in lack of a better word, debacle when the forum was last wiped from posts to maintain the free plan.
But might be I'm getting lost to the topic, hi new people. Who are you? I want to know too. I'd love to see another time of user comics but we'd all have to know each other a little better for that!

Hey, how ya doin'? Hellbreaker: You were here before me, grandpa! I only caught the tail end of that generation of the Hive. Back in the days when the General board was by far the busiest of them all. I remember the comic strips too. Pity I never got involved before it was shut down. I guess Yori wasn't too thrilled by being portrayed like a Saturday morning cartoon villain all the time. It'd be great to get it up and running again.

Heh, in fairness there was good reason for it. As was the case with many things from that time, threads starting at point A and ending in point B usually meant visiting all the other letters in various terrestial and extraterrestial alphabets before finally reach it's end with a good sturdy lock.

Not really new, had the mind-numbing realization I'd been on this forum in one capacity or another for almost six years. Used to be known as Mina before an incident involving a forgotten password, hacked email, and freak-out from my mother caused me to delete that account and make this one...
Like Helly, I'd bet my legs (I like my arms...the legs not so much) most people don't know me. I mostly ran around on the role-play board (before it died) and general board. I haunt everything else to stay prepared for the day I live in an area with a gaming store again.
I like reading, writing, anime, and gaming.
Hi new people! Tell us about yourselves.

Holy Cow, I myself just realized I've been on this board for more than five years! I picked Tyranids for the biological monstrosities and all I got was the lousy forum membership. Seriously though, this place is just great. Reading people discussing the usefulness of one spacebugdinosaur over another spacebugdinosaur really takes your mind off the absurdity of existence and your recent depletion of toilet paper.

Whoa, great, thread for newbies.... infested with people who are around for 1-6 years already And hey, Yuno, I know you! =P Well, I guess I would notice my beloved Gasai Yuno (it is getting scary how big the list of anime characters I would call my beloved have grown... ugh...) even where she is not.. Eh, whatever.. Speaking of dead RP section, I remember a really nice game we used to have on one RP server. It was called crossroads. It was played on chat whenever few people gathered for it and as it was more of a interaction-based RP, not really any story, it was PJed by a bot. The bot basically just introduced people to where they are and sometimes thrown in some minor event such as change of the weather or something. Might be cool to do something like this here as I prefer this a lot to your standard story-based RP as there the story has to suit you (we have this czech RP site I sometimes visit, I like around one story per 6 months. and believe me, it is plenty active site) and it is very reliant on PJ and even on other players (man, how it sucks when after two years of scouting you get a story you like, a PJ you like, a system you like, you like everything and then after 4 replies PJ ditches it). EDIT: Although the problem would be that I might not be able to participate. You know what real RP delivered by native speakers is for people with lowly English like me? Well, try some Swahilli poetry.
