I have an 1850 point game coming up this Tuesday. It's supposed to be a fairly friendly game but I have never played this gent before. He mentioned he would probably play some skimmers and a single riptide. He also said he would write a couple lists and we would pick the list that would be most fair.
So this is my first list I've drafted for this match but I have several pieces I've contemplated swamping out for.
CAD 1
Warlord: Tervigon
Troop 1: 10 hormagaunts with AG
Troop 2: 10 hormagaunts with AG
Elite 1: zoanthrope
Elite2: venomthrope
Heavy 1: Dakkafex
Heavy 2 Dakkafex
CAD 2
HQ1: Flyrant Devourers, electroshock grubs
HQ2: Flyrant Devourer, electroshock grubs, Hive commander
Troop1: 10 Devilgaunts
Troop2: 10 Devilgaunts
Elite 1: 1 Nuerothrope two zoanthropes
Elite 2: Venomthrope
Fast Attack1: Harpy
Heavy1: Mawloc
The idea I have in my head is to camp my warlord Tervigon on a backfield objective hidden spawn some gaunts to grab objective and try to deny him slay the warlord. put some immediate pressure on him with The Flyrants and Harpy and force him back into a tight formation, and hopefully get lucky with reserves outflank the devilgaunts and disrupt with the mawloc. hopefully with those distractions going on I can march the Dakkafexs, gaunts and squad of zoanthropes shrouded by the venomthrope up the field with minimal casualties, to finish off the big threats.
After reading the thread I'm considering a few changes. Not being used I have 30 gargoyles, 2 biovores, and 3 Hive guard. And bunch more gaunts. Also technically the mawloc is a Trygon (I know he is not popular and is super expensive) but with the strategy behind this game do you think it would be acceptable to create some backfield synapse and flood some devilgaunts in following turns?
