7th ed FAQ still leave slaanesh deamon heralds short-handed

Reading the new FAQ, I see The Masque of Slaanesh is still not included as an option for the 4-in-1 herald pick like the other three gods have in their named heralds. Is the Masque worth it solo? or just stick to a Keeper of Secrets/Demon Prince?

In a hands of a very skilled player with a list that could benefit from Masque's presence - maybe. Otherwise I have to say that the Masque is bad. I've never seen or heard anyone using her so that should mean something.

Like you said she occupies an HQ slot which is usually reserved for GDs and Heralds. So in most cases you'll have to get her as an allied HQ.

Very fragile and can't join units. Very bad. If I recall correctly the model is very small so at least she should be very easy to hide.

Unfortunately, although her dances can potentially ruin your opponent's day they have a really short range and require her to see the target. So the moment she appears out of hiding she'll do her dance and die in the opponent's psychic phase or shooting phase.

To work at all she needs to run across the board while hiding out of sight or deepstrike. When she goes in the range for a dance, Grimmoire her and hope for the best. Her worth is heavily dependent on what you plan to do with her and your list.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll just use her as a generic herald, which oddly enough I'm swimming in model wise.

Choices... Greater Daemon Prince with options, or The Masque... geeze.

The Masque isn't a herald because fluff. She also doesn't have independent character status, so she can't join units like a herald would.

Perhaps, but as GW isn't known for following fluff when it suits them, why don't they do it now? The Masque is listed under the herald section, and looking at each chaos god, Nurgle has a named herald (Epidermus) that can be taken as part of the 4-pack Heralds of Chaos section, Khorne has two named characters, both IC, both in the 4-pack options, and Tzeentch has two named heralds, one is an IC and available for the 4-pack, one non IC who does not fit into it. But at least they get one. I just feel bummed that the Masque is passed over.

Was the Masque available in previous editions? I only found out about her when I dusted off my old models and started looking into Slaanesh builds.
