Hello Hive! I've had a megaforce and some other Space Marine goodies sitting around for ages now in the box, so I finally went and built most of them. However, I also really like Tau, so I got a cheap army off Ebay. I wanted to put them both together, because I was thinking that Space Marine toughness would really help out Tau squishiness. I have only flipped through the codex and read forum posts at this point, no games yet, and most of my army building was done sitting in my car at work, so if I've made egregious mistakes, please point them out! Anyway, here's what I've put together at 1850 points:
Tau:
HQ:
Commander with 2x Plasma Rifles, Drone Controller, Puretide Engram Neurochip, Marker Drone x2
162 pts
Elite:
2x Crisis Suits, 2x Plasma Rifles, 2x Marker Drone, 2x Gun Drone
1x Shas'vre, Flamer, Command and Control Node, Multi-Spectrum Sensor Suite, Gun Drone, Marker Drone
248 pts
3x Crisis Suits, 3x TL Missile Pod, Velocity Tracker x3
186 pts
Troop:
8x Fire Warriors
72 pts
8x Fire Warriors
72 pts
Fast Attack:
6x Pathfinders, carbine and marker
77 pts
6x Pathfinders, carbine and marker
66 pts
Heavy Support:
Hammerhead, Railgun and TL Smart Missile, Blacksun Filter, Sensor Spines, Disruption Pod
146 pts

146 pts
Iron Fists Space Marines:
HQ:
Librarian with Psyker Mastery Level 2
90 pts
Elites:
8x Sternguard, 3 combi-melta with drop pod
251 pts
Troops:
10x Space Marine Tacticals with flamer and heavy bolter in a Rhino
190 pts
10x Space Marine Tacticals with flamer and heavy bolter, walking
155 pts
Comes out to 1850 points on the nose. My idea is to stick the Commander with the plasma rifle Crisis team to jump around with tons of drones and shoot stuff. The missile team is anti-air and close range mobile support. I will combat squad the walking marines, one squad with a fire warrior squad in support. The rhino squad marines will move up to contest objectives as needed. Pathfinders will do pathfinder things with shiny shiny markerlights. Hammerheads will sit in the backfield and snipe tanks. The Sternguard in the drop pod are basically a response unit for whenever they come on. The librarian I'm not sure about, I could drop a marine from the Rhino squad and stick him in there, or I can stick him in the Sternguard drop pod to help there.
I went with Iron Hands for the 6+ FNP, but I'm definitely open to suggestions on that. I thought about Imperial Fists, but they don't affect Sternguard special ammo.
These are most of the models I have, I also have:
Space Marine Predator x1, Land Raider x1, Stormtalon Gunship x1, 2 dakka dreadnaughts and a Venerable dreadnaught, a scout team with a speeder, and many many tacticals.
Tau Sniper Drone Teams x4 and Stealth Suits x2 with many many Fire Warriors
Any thoughts on how I have these set up or on the tactics? It's not really a static gunline, I have the mobility of the crisis teams, the Rhino squad and the Sternguard coming in to keep the opponent on their toes, but I don't really know for sure if that will work or not.
Anyway, thanks for reading!
