Dark Angels 1850ish

Dark Angels are my second army, and while I am currently ironing out my 6th Nids list, I took a break tonight and kit bashed a much needed terminator inquisitor for my DA list. I wasn't happy with any of the models that I saw available online so I just decided to put old bits and pieces of a Grey knight terminator that I have acquired over time.

I am still debating the pistol on his leg, it looks worse every time I look at it lol

RW CMD Squad is there to buff the LR hurricane bolters, or the bikes. Pred is there to provide some anti armor, long range platform. The Inquis joins Belial and the 6 termies in the LRC, get a scout move hopefully and provide quite the distraction on the first turn, and hopefully some backfield bashing. Neph jetfighter is there to support the pred in anti vehicle, and provide some anti air.

22 Models at 1850? I don't think that's gonna last long. You don't really have enough that can benefit from the Bolter Banner to be worth that investment, I don't think, and if you're up against someone it really does threaten, that Squad of 3 is very easy to drop, even with Sammael Joined to them.

The Nephilim is, not straight up bad, but probably about 30-40 Points overpriced, in an already tiny Army.

There's also not much real hitting power here. At 2K, against DA, I'm used to fending off 4 Terminator Squads hitting me in the face right off the bat, plus maybe some Bikes. One and some Bikes, even with the Characters there, is much easier to bounce, even considering the drop to 1850.

If you want to run DoubleWing, I'd save yourself 175 Points and just take Azrael, and ditch the Command Squad and Jetfighter for more Troops.

Well, it dawned on me as well, one of the main reasons for the termy Inquisitor was to be able to get a scout move on the LRC full of terminators...but allies can't embark onto each others transports. Now I've got this nifty model, and want to put him to use, so I took some of your advice and made quite a few changes, although I kept the HQ choices because I like using both Belial and Sammael on his speeder.

I'll just blob up Belial and the Inquis with the termies and Death Wing Assault. Combat squad the bikes if necessary. Hopefully 2 Preds and ye ole' Neph can handle armor and air.

Edit: I didn't like having the Land Raider without dudes, figured I would get more from the Neph + 2nd Predator. Although it may be useful for scooping up the terminator unit in a pinch (I'd have to leave the Inquis behind) I think that the Preds will work better, and hopefully provide some distraction/cover for the bikes.

That's looking better. At this point, I'd go for some tweaks, but I'm not sure just where I'd find the Points:
- Special Weapons in the Ravenwing Squads. There are a lot of situations where some Plasma or Melta is way better than TL Bolters.
- At least one Chainfist in the DeathWing Squad. Ideally a couple of TH/SS dudes, too. Maybe split into two Units of 5, they don't have Combat Squads for some reason.

I left the blob of termies as big as it is so that they can all deepstrike with no scatter thanks to Belial. I think 12 terminators wherever I want it is a huge tool to use, I find that generally running 2 groups of 5 I end up wishing they were one big group. If memory serves me correctly, I could drop the servo skulls and have enough points left for at least 1 special weapon per biker squad. Other than that it would be dropping the Inquis's book, which admittedly I am taking in this list just to test and see if it is worth the points. If you will notice in the second list I changed the books to the Tome of Vethric for the buffs it gives depending on what I am playing. I don't really know how effective each buff will be.

I only really see the Tome being good for this Army against Necrons and Nids.

If it comes down to it, then that is what I can drop to get some special weapons. it doesn't seem to be as much of a game changer as the scout rule for a LRC full of assault terminators. thank you for the help man, I do feel a lot better about the second list. if I could just iron out my nid list I'd be a happy camper.
