Anyone built their winged Tyrant wth the standing legs?

I'm getting ready to purchase my 2nd plastic Hive Tyrant (and finally put my old, pre-finecast metal beast to bed) and I'd like it to look as different from my current winged Tyrant as possible. Seems the easiest way to achieve this would just be to throw the wings on a standing Tyrant, but I'd like to see pics of how that turns out, if anyone has any.

Also, has anyone tackled the prospect of magnetizing the wings? Arms and heads are easy-peasy, but getting big heavy pieces like the wings to clip via magnets without falling off under their own weight is somewhat more daunting.

Ive got no Photos other than completed ones, but I magnetized my entire Tyrant (Mors Alas) so that it can be a walking or flying.

So I can post a Pic later of what one looks like walking with wings if you want.

However the Wings are removable and I did it as follows

The Left and Right Sections of the Torso, before I glued them to the centre peice, I glued using PVA to the wings. (PVA doesnt leave any gunk you cant get rid of as you can use water to remove it) I glue them in place to keep the wings at the right angle while I drill the pilot holes.

I then drilled pilot holes into the wing arm, through from the back of the Side Sections, at an angle that the drill went down the arm of the wing.

I then made this pilot hole bigger - about 3mm in Diameter and inseted an aluminium rod into it. I then soaked the wing and torso in cold water and the PVA disolved. These rods hold the wings in place when I put the torso together.

I then inserted 3 small magnet holes around the rod on the wing and the same holes in the side. Glued in the magnets in this Triangular patter, and they hold the wing in.

All in all it took about an hour or so to do slowly not including PVA drying time.

Does that make sense? I can get Photos tonight if needs be!

Both of the standing Tyrant from afar, and close-ups of the magnet rig.

How does your magnet pattern interact with the non-winged Tyrant setup (eg. when you want to throw other arms on him). Are some of the magnets visible at that point? Or did you magnetize his wings purely for transport/storage, so that other arm combos are never actually utilized?

I drilled little holes behind the upper arm sockets then drilled a hole into the base of the arm, stuck a bit of chopped off paperclip in it, and the wings stay on fine supported by that.

Like the other chaps I have gone down the detachable route however I only used magnets. I basically chopped off the arm sockets from the inside of the torso and glued in a magnet then sliced off the nobbly bit of the arm and again glued a magnet. Seems to be good. Some pics for you. he's a bit wet, just been painting him at work :-P

He looks perfectly lovely in the standing-yet-winged pose. In fact, he almost looks more majestic than the hovering version. Might have to make the grounded one my Warlord, when I opt to use two (the LoS profile reduction can't hurt, either).

here's bob the flyrant. Magnetised (he's an old metal body and we traded out some wings). 1/5 by 3/32 magnets hold the wings pretty firm.

HE actually won Best Beast or some such title at the THrone Of Skulls Young Bloods in August. IF u need to see magnets, yell, I'll photograph them in the morning
