Tyranid Rumours Round up. (edit Update on Nov 8)

Just a quick summing up of what I put over on 'seer before the thread got closed RE Miniatures being removed from Warhammer World.

Miniatures are taken from the Minature Hall all the time.

Their being missing does not mean that the Nids are next any more than while I was there last month meant that the Tomb Kings were next. It just means that they have taken them out to do something with them, not that they are the next army. They could have been taken out for any number of things - Photos for Battlereports, Photos for Background Bad Guys to Appear in Future Codecies Including Imperial Guard, Space Wolves, Sisters or Battle, ANYTHING! Hell there could be a Forge World book in the pipeline. Or they could be being cleaned for transport to Games Day which is less than a month away.

Unfortunately Correlation does not imply Causation.

Evidence to back this up? I live close enough to pop up there all the time which I do. I speak to the staff, not just the shop staff and the ones who are friends give me the lowdown. Oh and most importantly I used to work there (At Warhammer World) and thats what happened when I worked there - I doubt policy has changed.

Anyway in answer to your question of how the Zoanthrope looks different it could be the angle making it look different, but heres my list of differences:

• The Top of its head, has sharper Spikes at the edge of each Carapace Section
• The tail looks fatter and just different
• The mini-Capillery Tower at the bottom looks bigger and longer and more sturdy
• The gap between the tail and thorax looks different.
• The head is shorter, fatter and with a more defined jawline

Something else that just makes sense is that the Finecast one is rubbish for staying up. Its a known problem that you make the model, you paint it, and then the weight of its head breaks it off its base at the Capillery tower. So giving it a higher priority for remodeling it in Plastic would make sense.

I agree with the idea that it looks like a new type of zoanthrope (possibly even doom) and am very excited for a new plastic kit if that is the case. I have had too many bad memories with top heavy fail cast zoanthropes falling over mid battle.
One thing I do have a slight worry about in the picture though is the devourers on the carnifexes. I am not sure if this is any indication of the new book or if it was just there for the bat rep in October issue, but if it is some sort of preview then that would point towards devourers still being a viable option for MC's. While some people may like this due to the fact that they may release MC sized weapons for them (though I doubt it), I personally don't like the carnifexes roll as being shifted to a more weapon platform than the combat monster it's str9 would suggest. I would hope that they make the CC weapons on the MCs better options as I am sick of seeing carnifexes and tyrants with cones for weapons.
I hope I am wrong, please correct me if I am.

FWIW, the poster of the sensible rumors on 4chan added some details to what he previous said.

New stuff:
>Crawling Plague (named Venomthrope), Finecast
>- Like the other named tyranids is taken as a brood upgrade.
>- Three rows of vents on its back, tail is much longer and coils itself around a piece of scenery. Mouth tendrils are shorter and spread open around its mouth like it's trying to spit out something, with liquid dripping out of it.
>- Torrent weapon, AP- Poison 4+. Gimmick is on a 3+ place a marker anywhere on where you placed the template. Following turn place the small end of the flamer template on the marker and aim it in any direction, roll again on 4+ every subsequent turn to see if it stays on the field.
>- Grants stealth to all models within 6" and shrouding to itself. Venomthropes create 5+ cover, so they synergize.
>- It Lurks in the Mists: Special deployment gimmick instead of deploying on the board, at the start of any movement phase except the first you can deploy the Crawling Plague within 6" of any venomthrope.
>- Mutation from the new Hive Fleet Karkinos, which is specialized in toxic weaponry and the usage of venomthropes.

>Tyranid Prime, plastic clamshell

- Trygon Prime can taken as HQ/HS
- Trygon tunnels can be used by all infantry/beasts but Raveners can be held until a tunnel is available.

I actually love the sound of that rumored Prime. Would we sweet to have it actually have a decent role on the battlefield IMO.

That prime does sound very nice, also really pleased that we are hearing very similar rumours to before, hopefully this means that there is more credibility to them. Really like the idea of the previous special characters being upgrades to units, will be interested to see how the red terror gets reintroduced. I wonder where they will put the parasite though, if they keep it at all.
Zoanthropes/gene thropes sound nice, slight bummer that only one power but I guess it was the same as before. Could someone please remind me what the mastery level gives you other than an extra power? (Which the zoanthrope/gene throne doesn't get).

I like the sound of those venomthropes, but they sound... too reasonable. Too much like what the entire Tyranid community wanted to see from them. Makes me skeptical.

im pretty sure that is a normal zonathrope, its leaning forward giving it the look of a different pose but hes probably just clipped the stud off the bottom as it isnt needed with finecast the tail curve and head are exactly the same as a normal thrope just side on so accentuate the spike of the carapace and when they do the doom it will most likely have a very distinguished look a far larger head to show how drunk on eldar tears he is:)
