For as long as I have been playing tyranids I have been referring to my fleet as Hive Fleet Nightstalker. However, when 6th edition rolled around I embarked on an epic quest to repaint my army the scheme that was originally my second choice. Now that I the majority of my competitive 2k army painted I realize the Nightstalker moniker no longer fits thematically with my now lava themed tyranids. I would love to get the hive minds input as to a new name for my fleet.
Since I know it helps to have a little back story along with the color scheme I will give you some of the details of the new fluff piece I am working on.
Instead of leaving empty planets in its wake it leaves empty Star Systems. Planets are dismantled using a combination of tunneling monsterous creatures and specialized Narwhals until all useable minerals are incorporated into the fleet and the planet has been stripped down to its rapidly cooling core of ultra dense metals. This core is then nudged out of orbit from its parent star and becomes a rogue planetoid that is a much as a part of the fleet as the hive ships. Most tendrils of the fleet will have 1-3 of these planetoids in tow. Their purpose is a final attack against planets where massive defense installations have been located (usually in response to the encroaching hive fleet). When the fleet comes across a planet that would require to much biomass to claim via invasion accelerate the nearest planetoid into a collision course with it. The resulting cataclysmic destruction allows the hive fleet to claim what biomass remains and carry on with much less hassle than a drawn out war of attrition.
