Apologies if this has been covered before, I did a quick search but didn't come up with anything

When a tyrant for example has TL devs and OA do you: -

Re-roll the misses for TL and then use OA re-roll any 1s that might come up.

or

Re-roll the 1s with OA first and then use TL to re-roll any misses that result.

Last game I played we used the 1st method as I'm sure the BRB states somewhere that a dice cannot be re-rolled more than once. Is that correct?

Also can OA be used against penetration rolls?

Neither you can't re-roll a re-roll. so the twin-linked will take precedence.
As for the re-rolling for pens... i think Preferred enemy specifies to wound rolls which would mean you can't re-roll your to pen rolls of 1... however i might be wrong there.

Ah so OA on a TL dev tyrant is only really there to re-roll the wounds rolls of 1? Admittedly as you're wounding most things on 2+ that's still a nice bonus

Don't forget the Preferred Enemy of OA also gives you and those near you re-rolls of 1 to hit and wound in combat as well - handy if/when you have to land and mash something up face-to-face

I auto include Old Adversary on my Flyrant now. I could care less about losing out on the to hit for shooting, it still works for the other 2 instances. I generally average 10 wounds with OA, and generally only about 7-9 without it. (shooting at any infantry you wound on 2's on.) Those 1's come up, and the aura is about as close as Tyranids get to Broken rules.. Literally with the right placement and few enough squads and your entire army can benefit from it. I can't say that ever happens, but it sure is nice flying into a protracted combat to buff everything in it including yourself, while shooty squads nearby still get more deadly. My favourite combo so far has been 2x 20x Devilgants and a Flyrant. 120 S4 and 12 S6 rerolling 1's.. CRAZY amount of firepower for a seemingly inferior tech shooty race...

OA was awesome for me last game.

Of course, it was partly because I had a brain cramp and thought it had a 12" range.....

i'm using 2 flyrant, one with OA and the other with the reserve bonus ability (i don't know the name in english XD) them fly together withing 6" to maximize their twin linked lurco and if possible i move them to let a spore with 20 devourer-gant to land beside them to maximize also their 60 devourer shoots. moving really well, and with a bit of luck in the spore deviation, i can also try to move a tervigon to give them also defesive bonus.
