I'm planning to run a big campaign together with my friends about the Tyranid invasion of our own fictional sector of the empire, Kaplan.
It's basically Hivefleet Zoat vs. the Astartes chapter of the Black Paladins, with IG allies and some random encounters with Chaos, Tau and others.
In a few weeks we start to play the first games and of course we'll make some pics and fluff to present some great battle reports I'm going to translate these into english and upload them later in the tactics-forum.
Now for the final scenario I've got this idea:
It's gonna be an Apocalypse battle with 8000 points totally plus 500 pts per side for each victory in the 5-6 games before.
Of course I want to use my Hierophant for this, but also this model as the Norn Queen broke loose from its lair:
The biggest special will be the crashed Hiveship in the Tyranid deployment zone, heavily defended by the creatures emerging from it. This will be represented by some kind of red shiny curtain, that can be unroofed to show the inside of the ship once the first Black Paladins entered the bizarre realm, designed with a lot of tyranid terrain.
I have created some rules for the battle inside the birthing chamber, where the Norn Queen is still alive, creating more monsters, despite of its ship heavily wounded and lying on the surface of the planet. Somehow its chamber separated from the dead body, still covered by thick layers of skin. It has to be destroyed to fight the xenos-threat.
The scenario will be divided into three sections:
1. The normal battle, until one model of the Black Paladins enters the Hiveship.
2. The inside of the lair is revealed, the battle continues as normal, but now you can see the head of the Norn Queen, appearing from its huge birthing sacs.
Every model inside the ship now can try to destroy the lair (while fighting hordes of gaunts).
It only has a wound and toughness value of 6 and is immune to any psychic power or special rules without a strength value. No save, no WS, I or A, so it can be hit automatically in combat.
Once the lairs wounds are reduced to 0, the real final begins.
3. Now just like in Aliens or Super Metroid the Queen throws off its birthing organs to defend herself as a gargantuan creature. Suddenly the Black Paladins have to fight against a superiority, because the Queen is not included in the army-points of the nids.
On the next turn of mine the Queen has to leave the ship and kill whatever it can, because reinforcements for the Astartes are right on the way: A huge warlord titan of the Legio Noir comes in from reserves on their next turn.
Now the question is: What rules to give the Norn Queen?
A warlord titan is worth 2500 points, so you could design the Queen to match a challenge like this. Another idea would be to make it similar to a Hierophant and to rebirth that one from the beginning, or restore all its wounds instead, so it would be two biotitans (2x1250 pts) against one warlord titan (2500 pts).
In any case it has to be an epic battle!
So, which idea do you like better? You can think of some rules for it, if you want to.
My concept of it is:
-Gargantuan creature
-Very powerful Psyker and Synapse creature
-Not able to generate new units while in "Warrior mode"
But now: What profile? What powers? What special rules?
Thanks for any help, it's highly appreciated
