Played against a CD/CSM army at 750 points. Did not win, mostly due to my mistakes.
My list:
== HQ ==
Hive Tyrant (1) - Twin-Linked Devourer - Brainleech Worms, Twin-Linked Devourer - Brainleech Worms, Wings, Paroxysm, Leech Essence, Hive Commander = 285 pts.
== Troops ==
Tervigon (1) - Crushing Claws, Cluster Spines, AG, Toxin Sacs, Cat, Onslaught, Taken As Troops = 235 pts.
Termagant Brood (10) - Fleshborer = 50 pts.
Termagant Brood (180 pts.)
Termagant (14) - Devourer = 140 pts.
Mycetic Spore (1) = 40 pts.
== Total ==
750 pts.
His:
Daemon Prince wings and nasty CC weapons (CSM)
Bloodthirster also with wings and nasty CC weapons
2 x 3 Nurglings
10 x Cultists
Battle was the Scouring, deploying on the short table ends.
Long story short, I shot up a unit of Nurglings with my Flyrant, then lost him to the Daemon Prince who had initiative on me. No, my Flyrant was not swooping (My mistake).
Next turn my Devigaunts shoot up the DP, charge and kill him. Tervigon spurts out 14 'gants. I place them six inches forward, about 7 inches from Bloodthirster (Who is swooping). Gants shoot and knock him from the skies. I run the Tervigon partially out of cover to ensure the 'gants remain within six inches when they charge. They fail their charge. I forgot to move them before shooting. (My third big mistake).
My second mistake was leaving the Tervigon exposed. Bloodthirster rushed in between both 'gant broods attacked and in CC instakilled the Tervigon who even with crushing claws got no attacks through.
Good learning lessons as this CSM player is one of the better tacticians in our group.
Here are my questions:
Daemon Prince:
1) He dished out an amazing amount of attacks. Like nine. What is the max/min a Daemon Prince can dish out in close combat with special weapons?
2) I asked a while back if CSM Daemon Princes get invulnurable saves. I was told no they don't because they are from the CSM codex, not the CD codex. My opponents insists they get invulnurable saves. If a Daemon Prince is selected as part of a CSM FOC do they or do they not get an Invulnurable save, and what should I have him reference if they don't get a save?
Bloodthirster
1) If Bloodthirster has two specialist close combat weapons, how many basic extra attacks does he get in close combat?
2) If one weapon is AP2 and the other is AP3, how does Bloodthirster resolve any hits? Does he assign them to each weapon or what? My opponent doesn't know.
Do either BT or a DP have both Rage and Rampage? My opponent said one did which would mean 2+D3 extra attacks on the charge, plus all the other stuff (D6 base attacks, plus attacks for CC weapons). Seems a bit much but then they are expensive, specialist units.
Thanks much.
