Decided to dip into a MEQ army and always loved the fluff and style of Black Templars. I know their codex is old as sin but what can I say, I love underdogs.
Any advice is appreciated but keep in mind I'm not looking to win any tournaments. This army is more of a fun alternative to give me and my opponents some variety seeing as I'm almost undefeated with my Tyranids and some of the players at my local hobby store are getting ornery.
2000 Points Black Templar:
HQ:
Marshal Captain - 135
Storm Shield
Power Sword
Terminator Armor
Marshal Captain's Command Squad
(1 Sergeant and 3 Terminators) - 230
2x Cyclone Missile Launchers
5x Tank Hunter
Chain Fist (Sergeant)
Reclusiarch Chaplain- 140
Power Axe
Terminator Armor
Teleport Homer
Emperor's Champion – 110
Abhor the Witch, Destroy the Witch
Elites:
Venerable Dreadnought – 189
Twin-linked Lascannon
Tank Hunter
Drop Pod
Searchlights
Smoke Launcher
Assault Terminators - 469
5x TH/SS
Land Raider Crusader dedicated transport with Searchlight and Smoke Launchers
Troops:
Crusader Squad - 513
Initiates x 10 with Krak Grenades, CC Weapons, and 1 Powerfist
Neophytes x 4 with Bolt Pistols and Chain Swords
Land Raider Crusader dedicated transport with Searchlight and Smoke Launchers
Crusader Squad - 106
Initiates x 5 with Frag Grenades
Lascannon
Plasma Gun
Crusader Squad - 106
Initiates x 5 with Frag Grenades
Lascannon
Plasma Gun
Total: 1998
Marshal and Command Squad deepstrike somewhere behind cover or on top of the Chaplain with Homer and take potshots with the cyclone ML, while Marshal takes the hits with his SS.
Reclusiarch attaches to Assault Terminators in Land Raider and takes a flank, making them Fearless and reroll misses.
Emperor's Champion and Crusader Squad in Land Raider take second flank, emperor takes any challenges and the rest break faces in a mad rush with bolt pistols and cc weapons or rapid fire barrage.
Dreadnought drops in first turn at half-way point and kills the biggest mech threat with twin-linked "Tank Hunter" Lascannon. Being Venerable I'm hoping he can either stick around or act as a distraction long enough for the LRC's to get across the board.
Also not sure about the Power Axe but I figured getting that extra +1A was good for the Chaplain as his Termie Armor gives him a +1 for a grand total of 6 S5 attacks on the charge (3 base, +1 two CC, +1 Termie Honors, +1 Charge).
The 2 small Las/Plas Squads take up the rear using the LRC's as distraction/cover and take heavy weapon shots at incoming mech and hard targets while babysitting objectives.
With 3 Lascannons, 2 Plasma Guns, 2 Multimeltas, 2 Cyclone ML, and the Thunderhammers I figure I have enough high S, Low AP weapons to at least give the army a fighting chance.
