Hello Hive!
I have had the pleasure of being in my first escalation tourney over this spring and I figure I'd finally get my but in gear and get my Nid's painted. As it's my first tourney I didn't have much expectations going in since I knew a lot of the guys there were quite experienced and I more enjoy the painting and collecting part of the hobby. Let's just say I didn't expect the outcome at all!
I went 5-0 in the first stage of the tourney which was 500 points. Below is the list i used. The setup was that you only needed 1 HQ and 1 Troops as min.
HQ- Hive Tyrant
- Rolled on Biomancy
- 2 x Twin Linked Devourers
- Wings
Troops - 5 Genestealers
- Broodlord
Elites - 1 Zoanthrope
- 1 Hive Guard
I was a bit nervous going pretty thin on the body count but everything seemed to work out quite well.
Below were my match ups
1 - Ork player with two trucks full of nobs in one and Gazz'gul in the other.
2- Nurgle biker list
3- Vanilla Marines
4- Crimson fists with a Storm Raven
5 - Nurgle biker rematch
What i found out is that either people seemed so focused on the Hive Tyrant, that the Broodlord and his buddies were able to run up and challenge their Warlord, and subsequently win them. Biomancy for the BL is amazing, and having ablative wounds made him that much more survivable. The only time he was focused, was the the Crimson Fist player who very nicely of him dropped an orbital bombardment on him, and only the BL somehow survived...
The Tyrant was a beast though. With him also rolling on Biomancy, I would either Endurance or Iron arm up, and then vector strike the (please do not swear) out of units. The devourers just tore things up, which saved my butt when the Storm Talon showed up. Which promptly got 10 hits from the Devs on rear armour. pewpew.
Next match is a 1000 pt game and I'll let you know how it goes!
Any advice and tips would be awesome as I am pretty new.
Oh and here is my sexy hive Tyrant.
