1999 Point army tell me what you think

My goal is to flood with bodies while distracting/ killing with the deathleaper Mawloc Combo. Putting the Deathleaper in cover giving him a 2+ cover save. when the Mawloc arrives remove Deathleaper bringing him back somewhere else when the mawloc burrows. To do this i have to keep mawloc on field turn 1 burrow him on turn 2 and thusly only having two TFtD attacks turn 3 and turn 5 but it should still be fun to pull off if deathleaper doesnt get charged.

I love the fact that it isn't the 1000th repost of "the" tyranid list . Though, I'd drop all the regen and buff the gargoyle squads to go-for-broke with the board clogging strategy. 44 gargoyles spaced 2" covers a crazy huge part of your deployment zone. Give them the catalyst and get cover wherever you can. Don't forget you can crawl if you don't want to risk dangerous terrain flying . Spacing and placement will be a huge part of making that list playable.

Thank you for your advice So should i get rid of all the regen upgrades or just from some ppl. Like i can see taking it off the Mawloc since hes hopefully just going to be popping up and down for the game. The Flyrant i can see getting rid of it. Now my TRUE question would it truly be better to buff the gargoyles or the gaunts. Cause in my head the gargoyles were a screen for the gaunts to get into close combat. Though granted if i can hold them up with gargoyles gaunts will have an easier time with them and giving me flexibility in running running death leaper to better locations the turn he arrives if out of range.

With a list like that if you clog objectives with multiple units of T3 models they will most likely have to come to you. I think you should just focus on board coverage to deny deepstriking drop pods and flyer movement. Deathleaper alone is a fragile unit to be doing that mawloc 1-2 punch thing. I use 2 lictors to do the same thing sometimes and they sometimes have issues staying alive till the mawloc can hit. It *might* work if there is super handy LoS terrain/ruins you can safely hide in. You'll want to deal with backfield missiles and heavy weapons teams so odds are they will more than likely allow you some of that. If you can remove as much AP3 as possible on their side, or distract it, you might be able to hang onto most of your MC's.

YES I love the DoM, although if this were my list i would make quite a few changes... take out DeathLeaper, he is a fun unit and has no place in competitive play. Also take out trygon, if you want to use them use 2+. Take out trygon and replace him with another flying Hive Tyrant. Two FMCs are harder to take down and are a lot more scary... so far 2000 - 140(DL) - 265(TrygonP) + 260(Flyrant) = 1855 also take out mawloc -195
so far we have 340 points to spend? geez. then take off regen for you first flyrant... 360 points?? get two squads of 5x Ymgarls to tie up shooty units or wreck other CC units. thats 230 points. 130 more points to spend? Make a third squad of hormagaunts and beef up both termagant squads by one guy have fun!

Draco i thank you for your advice but honestly im not trying to have the SAME list as everyone else...im trying to do things that most people dont...I have always believed that in this game of strategy it is infact STRATEGY that wins not the models. Every army i see with Tyranid is either mass tervigons or 2 flyrants...but i think that this army has some merrit if you plan accordingly. will it be hard sure but will it worth it will you win you bet. Its just like my Space wolves army i use Fenrisians and ppl always tell me to get rid of them but i win and it feels so much better than if i missle spammed or JotWF/LL spammed its nice to try and be different from the masses.

Also, if you wanted to up the effectiveness of the mawloc thing I would recommend dropping the trygon and taking 2 mawlocs. Also, swap deathleaper for 2 lictors. I think with the points savings you might be able to fit in a venomthrope; Possibly 2 if you scoot some points around. If you can LoS a venomthrope behind something big or terrain you can get quite a multiplicative cover effect daisy chaining all the large broods to keep in range of the cloud ;D

not many changes, I think it just makes your theme more cohesive and keeps all the flavor you want in the list, while also making your little guys more dangerous. Your gargoyles are fully buffed and ready to rumble and your hormys with toxin sacks will be anti infantry machines, along with all the ubergants spawned by your tervi since he will be conferring AG and TS to all nearby termas. The second mawloc also means you can alternate burrowing them if you want. You can take a chance and try to hit on turn 2 with one while you set up your lictor to help the other for turn 3. I love the list and the direction you are trying to take it, I love seeing different tyranid lists I see so many lists that are just flyrant and tervigon spam and it is kinda sad because skill and a little luck can make a lot of synergy based army lists work. Flyrant and tervigon spam is not fun or very challenging but unfortunately it IS our most successful way to play atm, however it is not our only way so keep fighting the good fight!

I like these alterations ALOT actually. My only concern is why Onslaught? Considering that Tervigon is only mastery lvl 1 And I actaully want to keep catalsyt to help my screen units survivabilty. I thought i needed more synapse with the Trygon Prime but ill def just run the two mawlocs i think having them alternate is just mean lol

I gave the mawlocs toxin sacs since I had 20 points to kick around which made them 180. And the tervi has onslaught so you can roll 3 times in biomancy for powers. If you dont want to chance it and just take catalyst, though endurance is better, then drop onslaught and toxin sacks from the mawlocs and give crushing claws to one tervigon and either find something to do with that last 10 points or try to free up another 15 points to give the other tervi crushing claws. A tervi with crushing claws and warpspeed from biomancy has a chance to strike with 9 str 10 attacks....thats just horrifying when remembering that they are all ap 2...... plus if you also roll iron arm you could use that in place of warp speed which will cut your total attacks to 6 but you could end up with 9 toughness which means quite a few guns will have no effect on your tervis. Biomancy gives you options on the fly.
