Arghaz knew they were here. The only problem was the darkness. The Grand Lord insisted on a night drop to ensure secrecy. The Imperials had resisted chaos for months now. This attack behind the lines would break the back of the loyalist forces. Once the breach was created, there would be no stopping the forces of Khorne.
A foul stench suddenly hit the group as yet another lander made a silent drop. Out of the hatch stepped Havocs, a Helbrute, and a forgefiend. The Champion raised his hand in greeting "Greetings brother," said the Champion "we have been sent to aid you in the assault. Let us move swiftly, so that we may reach the target destination. Our lord will be with us shortly" With a nod of his head, Arghaz started off towards the enemy.
It was not long before the Chaos Marines stumbled along a scene of carnage. Dead imperial soldiers were strewn about, some shredded, others incinerated. "What happened here?" Arghaz asked silently. His question was answered by the sounds of grav-engines approaching in the distance. Drawing his marines to the right, Arghaz charged forward, leaving the forces of Nurgle to deploy their heavy weapons on the left flank, with the Helbrute taking the center.
The glow of the grav engines showed that the Eldar forces were dividing their force in two, each comprising of two large tanks and a small craft, each taking a separate flank. Suddenly, in a burst of light, laser and plasma erupted into the marine's ranks. Four of the Chaos marines were slain by lucky hits, but the Berserkers were left unharmed.
With the sun now beginning to rise, Arghaz could make out the shape of tow Eldar Wave Serpent transports and a viper heading towards his position. Yelling a Khornate war-shout, Arghaz led his fellow marines closer to the vehicles. The Havocs fired in support of the charge, with a lucky shot destroying the turret off one of the serpents.
With the gap rapidly closing the Eldar in front of Arghaz initiated a 180 degree turn and deployed two squads of blue-armored warriors. Meanwhile, the xenos' other division continued to advance towards the havoc's flank. With a shout in their alien tongue, the Eldar infantry combined with a wave Serpent tore into the Marine squad. Laser and shuriken ripped through the corrupted power armor, killing eight of them. The second squad shot into the berserkers, killing two.
Suddenly, a flash of light erupted beside Arghaz. A second later, Nurgle Lord Malarus and a squad of obliterators appeared, guns at the ready. Arghaz and the remaining Khorne marines ran further forward towards the Eldar, who tried to quickly reload their weapons. Havocs shot at the Vyper on the left of Arghaz, forcing it to the ground. The obliterators unleashed their weapons into the left squad of infantry with newly-spawned assault cannons. Eight of the soldiers died as solid shots tore through their body. With a great shout, Arghaz lead the charge, slamming into the stronger squad of Eldar with his Berserkers. The Marines also charged at the survivors of the obliterators, eager for revenge. The result was devastating. In a frenzy of blades, eight Eldar warriors were hacked apart, and both squads initiated a retreat.
The Eldar quickly regrouped and ran inside their vehicles. Then, the wave serpents and vyper flew over Arghaz's head, landing close to the obliterators. Meanwhile, the other Eldar division finally made a strike, deploying an anti-tank squad and none other than Eldrad Ulthan himself in front of the forgefiend and lining up the other transport behind it. In a burst of flame, the forgefiend exploded, sending fragments everywhere. Meanwhile, the wave serpents targeted the obliterators, killing one and puncturing Malarus' armor twice.
It was time for revenge. The Helbrute turned and fired on a Wave Serpent, forcing it down. Further fire from havocs wrecked it, forcing the remaining warriors to disembark. Also, the obliterators fired on the Vyper, exploding it.
The Eldar Fire Dragons remounted their Wave Serpent and began to move to the Helbrute. Meanwhile, the other weakened Dire Avenger squad deployed to support their comrades. They opened fire on Arghaz's squad, slaying three berserkers. The other wave serpent on the left fired on the havocs, killing both two heavy weapons and the Champion.
Arghaz was tired of these Eldar. He led his warriors towards the depleted squads of Avengers. They smashed into the Eldar infantry and methodically killed them, offering each skull to the Blood God.
The Eldar to the left suddenly moved forward and deployed both squads of infantry. Eldrad called out in his alien tongue, and Arghaz faced in his direction. The last thing he saw was the psyker touch his hand to his helmet before his brains splattered over the Berserker champion beside him.
The remaining chaos forces were utterly destroyed. Cultists tried to flee as shuriken fire tore through their ranks. The Helbrute was pinned by six streams of melta fire and exploded. Tank fire killed the rest of the havocs. Realizing the situation, The Berserker Champion Kharnak called off the assault and the survivors retreated back to the chaos lines. There would be a time for vengeance later….
Opinions? Thoughts? Criticisms? If you guys thought this was ok, I may try to do some more, maybe with pics in the future.
