I was tumbling this combination over in my head as something that could mix things up and bring in some interest into a Dark Angels list. Having a swath of highly mobile plasma rifle/missile wielding robots maneuvering around a land raider for LoS cover sounds fun. Also, it would be a fairly low model count ally option slated for some updates in the near future.
Though, I was still wondering from a fluff-head standpoint is that even likely based on the story? I have not given two craps about the rest of the 40k lore, much less the specifics of my tyranids, the whole time I've been in this hobby so I am behind on my reading. I was thinking the rationale could be their immunity to psykers and in turn demons as some sort of boon to hunting chaos space marines/chaos demons. What do you guys think?
I was going to run a list something like:
==HQ==
Belial - Sword/SB
Command Squad - Banner of Devistation
Techmarine
==Troops==
Tactical Squad
8 bolter
1 plasma cannon
1 bolt pistol/chain sword
Deathwing Terminators
2 SB/PF
1 SB/CF
1 SB/PS
1 AC
==Heavy Support==
Land Raider Crusader - MM
Devistator Squad - Some Flakk missiles etc...
Tau
==HQ==
Shas'ui (or whatever the cheap one is) - Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-tracker
Bodyguard Squad x 3 - Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-tracker
==Troops==
Firewarriors x 10 (probably need a devilfish to get them somewhere in one piece)
==Elite==
Crisis Suit Squad x 2 - Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-tracker (maybe just TL plasma rifle for more reliable rapid fire AP2)
Crisis Suit Squad x 2 - Missile Pod, Plasma Rifle, Multi-tracker
I'd have to work out the points a little better for different point levels but I think that is in the ballpark of 1500 without looking at the codex.
All of the marines and the command squad hang out in the land raider with the techmarine (so I can repair that hull point or destroyed weapon, god forbid) and chug forward full speed flanked by the Tau suits. Deathwing assault is planned for the second turn to move the banner into position. Belial and his terminator buddies won't scatter on their deepstrike so land them turn 2 within 6" of the land raider to upgrade their guns to salvo 2/4 and unload an unholy amount of TL dakka on some poor target. Suits do what suits do JSJ'ing around with some S6 and S7 shooting at range. If there are fewer templates/tanks the marines can hop out of their ride and enjoy some salvo 2/4 shooting as well.
