1500pts Tervi List - tournament

Hey gang I think I'm getting close to finalizing my tournament list for late Feb, goes like this...

I'd really like to get it under 1500pts, not quite sure where I could move things around though.

Any comments/critique much welcome.

drop the cluster spines on the mycetic spore then get a 5-9 point upgrade (maybe another termagant, or scytals on a tervigon).

List 1:
Flyrant w/ 2x TL Devourers, Hive Commander - You don't need TS for him. You'll be actively avoiding assault, and if you can't you can probably use Smash for anything above T4. If you intend to use Spores, ALWAYS take Hive Commander. The risk of your reserves NOT coming in by turn 3 is actually pretty high. You can also choose to outflank w/ 1 Tervigon depending on your situation.

2x Zoanthrope w/ Mycetic Spore - Depending on the opponent, you can either use them as heavy tank busters, marine mob killers, or just load them up with Biomancy and start buffing your Flyrant on turn 2.


11x Termagants
15x Devilgants w/ Mycetic spore
- Don't get Cluster Spines for the Mycetic Spore. You're more likely to hit your own devilgaunts (remember - the Mycetic Spore CANNOT pick its own target, it MUST shoot the nearest target).
2x Tervigons w/ TS/Stinger Salvo/3 Psychic powers - roll on biomancy.

Trygon w/ TS - Sounds solid.

With this setup you have a very solid anti-armour core (Flyrant, 4 HGs and 2 Zoans), with the option of using the Zoeys as Marine-hunters. I typically find AGs very lackluster on Tervigons - your spawned Gants are better off being tarpits, while the Tervis either sit back and buff, or Smash vehicles, or move onto real threats.

In my experience, 15 Devilgants is about the ideal number for a 1-turn nuke. You're only hitting with about 50% of your shots, and depending on what you want to destroy (AV10 rear armour or infantry blobs) you have a bare-minimum chance of causing 3-4 glancing hits, or just enough wounds to kill a 4-5 man Tac Marine squad.

Also - since you're only running 1 brood of gants on the table at deployment, abuse the 2" coherency rule as much as possible to provide moving cover saves for yor tervis until you can spawn more gants.

10 devilguants is a little light to get the volume of fire you need. 30 shots, 15 hits, 7 or 8 wounds, = 2 - 3 dead marines or 2 to 3 glances on armor 10. They likely won't deliver and will get stepped on the next turn. The advice above of 15 or more is right on. You could drop one hive guard and go 3x2 to get some more points.

Even if you stay the same, you can drop cluster spines or TS on the trygon and get the points you need. Fill up the difference with gaunts in the 10 man squad. For a tourament with prizes, you need to be at or under the point value. One over is not cool.

The list Ranmafan has is a solid combination.

I've taken most of the suggestions into consideration and come up with the following:

I dont understand why to get 3 psychic powers on the Tervigons if they can only one at a time, whats the theory behind this?

I could drop a Hive Guard and add Hive Commander to Flyrant and Catalyst to a Tervigon.

You could drop the TS on HT and tervis and get 2nd psychic powers on the tervis (if you're rolling on biomancy that is...)

Its a solid list. I like it. Good backfield disruption. Good target saturation. Should be enough troops to grab objectives unless both tervis go dry on first spawn.

Just something to consider; You could drop down to 2 Hive guard and use the 50pts to beef up the tervigons and maybe add another devilgant. Extra psyk power on each to help your biomancy rolls and maybe one with AG. Same thing for losing the TS on Tyrant or even the Trygon. It really depends on your meta. If you face a lot of high AV vehicles or will be mostly shooting at Paladins or other multiwound T4 models, stick with 3. If you are shooting at low AV transports, 2 might be enough. Its a tough call since hive guard are a good unit, but sometimes 6 shots is just overkill.
