So, I'm bouncing ideas around in my head as of late to throw together some ideas for all new custom tyranid beasties just for fun, and I figured I'd throw up a brainstorming thread to see what other hives think, maybe even get some ideas back.
So, my first idea, and this is my favourite so far, goes back to when I was into nids when I was younger. I had this idea inspired by tain-mounted artillery cannons for some sort of giant centipede-esque MC with cannons on.
So my thinking on that at the moment is a sort of vaguely trygon-related critter with two lines of downward-facing short stumpy spines that it uses to propel itself, sort of like a caterpillar almost, possibly with a big mouth on the front and the normal six limbs degenerated into oversized mandibles.
Statwise, I was thinking something along the lines of 2 sets of twin-linked spore mine launchers, with a special rule that lets it put spore mines down on every miss, including ones that get rerolled, and also a rule to let it fire at empty open ground just to scatter some spore mines.
I also kind of want to make it a psyker, because I have this idea for a power that lets you pick the direction all yoru spore mines drift in for a turn, but I wanted that particular power to be an optional upgrade. I'm very vague at the moment I know, but I was thinking the default power(s) might be some sort of area control or something somehow. Maybe something that makes 12" (maybe more) around it sort of like dangerous terrain for flyers somehow.
Anyways, that's my first impression rough ideas (Some of them at least). Thoughts? Suggestions? Got your own creepy crawly to propose?
