Hey all, as some of you may know I decided to sell/pack up my nids a while ago because playing them was getting... well lets just say 4 years of playing the same thing gets really boring. But! I decided to pick them back up. Now really all I have left of my old swarm is 60+ Genestealers, 10+ Carnifex, 3 Hive tyrants, 3 Hive guard, 5 Warriors, and 9 Raveners. While there is a lot of nids there it's not quite enough for a true horde... and with the new rules Genestealers are kinda meh, so my half Genestealer half Carnifex army is no longer usable (and it did so good too...)
So like I said I'm starting my swarm over from the ground up, just like a good newbie should! But luckily enough I know which units I should buy and which ones I shouldn't (for the most part). However I wont be playing Tyranids exactly. Now I've been thinking about it and In fluff all Tyranids are different; different color scheme, different physical build, some have acid blood and others have hardened carapace. But we have no options for this anymore with the new codex so in all reality all the swarms are the same... which is boring!
So I will be playing Tyranids but, I will be heavily converting mine to look nothing like normal Tyranids. I mean when you see a swarm it is all the same, Gaunts there, Hormies there, Tervigons, Tyrants, blah blah blah. Now I want every time I fight someone to be like the first time they fight an army! Like remember your first game with nids against a new opponent? When he had no clue what units were what? Which was deadly and what to shoot at? Remember the complete chaos as you ripper his army to shreds? I want that every game! Bwahahaha
So now I decided that I will be converting all my Tyranids to look like Zerg! For a couple of reasons really. They are the only aliens out there extremely similar to Tyranids but still being different. They will be fun because just like nids they are squishy organics so all I need is a bit of green-stuff and extra carapace pieces and that's all she wrote. Now I thought about doing this before but never really got into it but this time I'm going to go all the way, have a nice great customized and painted army that no one else has, if anything this is a hobby right? Why would I want all my models to look like everyone else out there?
So for those of you out there who actually play Star Craft and know about the Zerg where is what I plan on doing:
Will be running a swarm army instead of my mixed/heavy army I use to run. A lot of Zerglings which will be Hormagaunts, Warriors with Deathspitters as Hydralisk, Flying tyrants as overlords, maybe an Ultralisk or two as Carnifex. Some Shrikes as Mutalisk, Harpies as Brood lords, and Rippers as larva. Now this will be quite a work in progress since I am trying to get my own apartment and pay off some credit cards (real life sucks, never grow up) but I'd like to see what you all think!
So, does it sound like a good idea? What units would you like to see? Any suggestions or ideas for the conversions? And any ideas on how to actually run the army?
-Cheers
