What is the best deal you've gotten in 40K?

Lately today I've been thinking about this topic alot. Thats probably because i've just now realised I have gotten more than half of my stuff used and super cheap.

But today though I think topped it all.

Today at my local gaming store a trade in of some tyranids were in there, all fairly in nice shape and condition, and a fairly nice paint scheme. So here's what i got out of it

For only $80 i got
-a Swarm Lord (badly needed)
-2 tyrant guard
-3 hive guard
- 1 venomthrope
-12 termagants with devourers
-12 hormagaunts

If i remember correctly all of that for retail is around 250-300?

So what about the other hives? What is the best deal you've ever gotten?

for about $80, I got a HT (metal one), one metal TG, Carnifex, 6 Warriors, 16 or so Fleshborer gaunts, 16 or so Hormagaunts, and 16 or so Genestealers.

When my mate quit the hobby, I got all his Marine stuff. So a half destroyed (and so unused Pred), a Dread, and a ton of Tactical Marines. Kick started my Marine army.

Nid wise, it would probably be my 30 Hormagaunts for £10-£15. I forget. But it was a great deal.

I got my 4th edition metal lictor for $9.50 on eBay. It looks enough like the current models that I can proxy it as a Deathleaper if I need to. The person selling it had listed it as a "Metal Alien Mini". It was like Christmas.

Prior to the launch of 2nd Ed I went into GW as they were doing a sale on all the old blisters that weren't making the cut for 2nd Ed at £1 each (normal retail £4 for 3 metal models).

A lot of these were "Feral Space Orcs" so I picked up every blister in the shop (around 20 blisters with 3 orks each) and built the core of my freebooter Ork army I have today as the models turned out to look more like pirates than ferals.

My friend however didn't do so well buying up all of the genestealer hybrids and brood brothers... though he played them through 2nd ed.

Murder makes everything cheaper... so longer as you don't get caught >.>

best deal i ever got was by accident... tossed a $1 bid on a 3rd edition metal carnifex, and then forgot about the auction entirely... a week later i apparently won with being the only bidder!




at the moment i am biding my time to get a full carnifex kit and a full trygon kit to make my second mycetic spore conversion... expensive, but hella worth it for how mine looks...

-6 warriors
-2 ripper swarms.

and recently last week for $50
-1 tervigon
- and 24 termagants

Loving how these sound, wish everyone could have such luck.

Got a Finecast (non Failcast) Broodlord for about $7.50.

Once got the 20 stealers from the original space hulk, a 2nd ed Tyrant, an old Screamer-Killer, and about 5 Spike Rifle Gaunts for £15. Not bad at all considering their rarity.

My friend ordered one, it got stuck in the mail and GW sent him an extra one so he didn't have to wait for it.

We decided to split the cost between the two of us.

Two valkyries and two russ for my guard army, unpainted, but assembled, £50, I almost snatched the blokes hand off in my hurry to shake on that deal......

I picked up almost 60 termagants assembled and primed for like $40. Unfortunately about 8 were kind of trashed or missing parts. I still came out ahead of buying the models though.
