750 point tyranid list

I have recently restarted 40k and me and my mates have been playing small to get back into things. we have played 750-1250 point games, with 15 point buffers.

My list is
tervigon - 160
Tervigon - 160
Devourer gaunts x10 - 100
Devourer gaunts x10 - 100
Gargoyles with toxin sacs - 70
Mawloc - 170

I have a played a few games with this exact list since re starting an it is yet to lose, it has faced space marines, chaos marines, and necron, and has so far won all of its game. Actually I think one the games against chaos was a draw.

Yesterday when I payed against necron I noticed a huge weakness in my army. He had a night scythe. It was a 11av all round, and flying so I could not assault. The only way I could hurt it was with my tervigons stinger salvo's, and even then thats glancing on 6's

I'm worried my army could easily fall victim to something like this again in the future, I won last night against necron, I just ignored the scythe and killed everything else, then scooped up the objectives.

I like the mawloc in my army, simply because 3 T6 6W monstrous creatures in a 750 army is pretty scary. Everyone I have played hates that about my army. But the mawloc is the only thing I could really affordd to cut in the army.

how would you change this list, baring in mind its weakness, and the fact it has not lost a game yet?

The simple answer to deal with that scenario is to drop the mawloc and instead field 3 hive guards. Reliable strength 8 shots can punch through low armor fliers and transports. With 3 of them that is 6 shots which, using the laws of averages, means 1 hit every shooting phase on fliers. I'd use this option in games less than 1000 points.

If you go over 1000 points you need to get yourself a nice Flyrant. Ditch the toxin sacs on the gargoyles to get some points back that are better spent elsewhere. Use the gargoyles to screen the Flyrant and decimate his flier head to head.

The fun thing about Tyranids is they have a unit that can answer every single need an army could have. The only tricky part is knowing which is best to use in a given scenario and being mindful to shore up any weaknesses that hyper focus can cause.

Hive guard reliably make a mess of necron armor (all 11 except monolith)...and teamed up with enfeeble, insta-gibs most of their multiwound models..plus your opponents will still hate the fact that they're T6.

I agree with the above about the Hive Guard, though, as you displayed, you have the potential to ignore the flyer and still win. That said, adding the hive guard probably adds a bit of flexibility for all lists, not just those with flyers.

Or 'upgrade' the mawloc to a Trygon when you go up in points. Gives you more S5 shooting to hit the flyer.

Even build yourself some spores for the devilgants.

For 50 points you can have 6 S6 and 3 TL S5 shots while helping to get your devilgants up close and personal.

My only concern with podding during low point games is that it usually grants your opponent a slight early game advantage that you need to reel back in. (please do not swear) rolls can keep a large portion of your army off the field for long enough to be a game changer.

I usually wait for 1000+ point games to start podding in devilgants personally. That way it isn't such a sizable chunk of your points in reserve.
