Trying again at 1850, feedback welcomed

Ok, so after going back through the codex & reading around the forums & talking with some friends I have come up with another list that I'd like some feedback on.

The idea is the Swarmlord can bring in the devilgaunts, doom & both trygons on turn 2 for a nice alpha strike. I will also use the hive guard as a pseudo tyrant guard for swarmlord, as he is very vulnerable to fire. If the terrain permits me to hide the flyrant, that would be ideal but if not, he can be reserved as well.

Only issue is that with so many units in reserve I will suffer some casualties turn 1, but that's a risk I'm willing to take. Any comments & criticisms are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Hi 1-11,

The only problem I see is the Swarmlord. With so many units in reserve, he's a big, fairly easy to kill target. He really needs a Guard in my opinion. Especially when you go second, he has no protection at all, because his psychic powers don't work yet.

Also I think this list could do without him. There's no group of Hormies or Ymgarls that can benefit from his furious charge ability and 280 points is a lot you can spend on other units. You could get a second Flyrant and upgrade your Tervi's to have AG, for example

The rest of the list looks pretty good to me.

Thank you for the reply! I can see your point on the swarmlord possibly being a wasted 280 points by not maximizing his abilities. However, since I already have the model, I am more inclined to drop the flyrant as I don't have that model. So, by dropping the flyrant I now have 260 points to work with.

I was thinking of adding a tyrant guard with lash whip to swarmy. Then I can add a unit of 7 ymgarls & another unit of 10 plain termagants. This gives my HQ greater survivability, another unit to benefit from his alien cunning & furious charge ability & an additional scoring option. Is this a good idea, or are there better options? Thank you again.

Don't drop the flyrant! It's the only anti-flyer thing we have... Plus it's so funny if it gets iron arm, starts swooping and then people have to hit you on 6s and wound on something ridiculously high.

Use ymgarls if you can. I've played 5 games with them recently and they've more than justified their cost everytime, demolishing a chaos lord and retinue, a squad of grey knight termi's or tactically taking out long-range weapon squads.

Definitely lose the Swarmlord and invest in Ymgarls. I understand having the Swarmlord model, but the Flyrant is just so needed in 6th Ed.

Ok, since the general consesus is flyrant over swarmload I guess I can make the swap. Also, I see many people are fans of the ymgarls, so let's add a unit of those as well. With those changes the list would be as follows:

I can add a couple models to each termigant squad with the leftover points or switch one trygon with a dakkafex in a pod. I gave the flyrant HC to help with the reserve rolls. Does this list look any better? Any more changes to make or thoughts on the current list? Thanks again.
