Hi all,
I'll be frank - I have a lot of 'skin of my teeth' friendly lists where I use 6th-ed maligned units like Genestealers and Shrikes and Raveners. The point of this list is to counter the huge number of 'unfriendly' mechanized/big gun lists I come up against frequently.
HQ:
Hive Tyrant w/ Hive Commander, Old Adversary, 1x TL Devourer, Thorax Swarm (Dessicator Larvae)
3x Tyrant Guards w/ Scytals
Elites:
2x 3 Hive Guards
1x 3 Zoanthropes via Mycetic Spore (w/ TL Deathspitter)
Troops:
1x 10 Termagants
1x 18 Termagants
2x Tervigons w/ Toxin Sacs, three psychic powers (Biomancy)
Heavy Support:
1x Carnifex w/ 2 TL Devourers via Mycetic Spore (w/ TL Deathspitter)
Basic tactics:
Deathstar Tyrant w/ Hive Guards and termagant wall, Tervigons covering the flanks. The idea is to aggressively run up to, then bog down enemy infantry (if any) with Termagants while Hive Guard and Tyrant pour fire into enemy vehicles. Tervigons are basically buff machines, only engaging enemy vehicles and targets opportunity but otherwise objective holders.
Thorax swarm is primarily an anti-terminator/biker/Nurgle defense and a secondary fire option while retaining the close combat weapons for Grey Knights.
Zoanthropes and Carnifex are reactionary/pincer deployments - Hopefully I don't roll 1s, then they drop in behind enemy lines. TL Deathspitters are an anti Flyer defense (surprisingly effective) - all are anti heavy-armour or anti gunline to deal with Quad guns and Preds/Land raiders/Battlewagon/equivalents.
I'm debating swapping out the Carnifex with a Harpy, but Harpies have been less than stellar so far in games like these.
Alternate biomorphs:
Tyrant Guards w/ Lash whips, Carnifex w/ Bioplasma
Hive Tyrant w/ Armored Shell
Tactics and list refinements? I'm doubtful of the thorax swarm and 8 extra termagants, but I'm not sure what else to spend 65 points on. (armored shell is nice but 3x tyrant guards tend to mitigate that)
