I tried a new list versus space wolves tonight:
Hive Tyrant with two sets of twin-linked devourers with brainleech worms and wings
Prime with pair of boneswords, scyth talons, tox sacs, ad glands
2 Hive Guard
Doom of Malan'Tai in mycetic spore with cluster spines
8 Ymgarls
Tervigon with Cluster Spines (3 psychic powers) with ad glands and toxin sacs and crushing claws
13 Termagants
5 Warriors with deathspitters
Carnifex with two sets of twin-linked devourers with brainleech worms in mycetic spore
1499 total
My opponent brought a land raider, 4 terminator units (2 came via drop pods, one was in the land raider) with various close combat and missile weapon upgrades and one of the named SW characters (was around 250 pts).
We rolled the relic mission. It went really well for me and by turn 4 my opponent conceded with 2 terminators and the land raider left.. I'll give a brief review of how effective the units were.
Hive Tyrant was great; first turn he got in front of the land raider and did not get shot down from the sky. He got assaulted by a group of terminators with the SW special character later in the game (after I tried to assault the land raider with him- bad move) and he killed the special character before getting killed.
The prime ran with the warriors. I held these guys back behind tervigon and they managed to assault a unit of terminators that drop-podded in my rear. They dealt with that unit and only lost one guy.
Hive guard tried to destroy the land raider- and nearly did. Doom never came in due to bad reserve rolls for him. Ymgarls were fantastic. Wiped out one and a half units of terminators. Termagants did what they were supposed to do and helped with assaults. Tervigon was not really needed too much- just provided buffs to termagants (and spawned for 2 rounds).
Carnifex came in turn 2 and managed to bring down a few terminators with shooting and a few with CC but died quickly to power fists.
I will definitely try this list again. I saw in another thread someone mentioned making the prime the warlord. Really good idea. I totally get how fragile warriors are in this edition but wanted to try the larger brood and it seemed to work. Will need to see how they do in future battles.
