1k and 1850 am I going down the right path

Hello Hive. I have just started my Nid army and I wanted to see if I was on the right path before I built up some of the more expensive models. I have a 1k list that I intend to grow to an 1850 and any comments or criticisms would be welcome.

I was also wondering how many spare gaunts you bring to be spawned by tervigons.

What do you mean with roll on biomancy twice?

In FAQ it says:
Psychic Powers
Any model with psychic powers may use the psychic disciplines
found in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, instead of those in
Codex: Tyranids. If it does so, for each psychic power it has from
Codex: Tyranids (including those it has purchased), generate a
new power from either the Biomancy, Telekinesis or Telepathy

This i take it, for ex, if u had 2 PP's you could then roll from both Biomancy and telekinesis? But in the rulebook it says unless its clearly stated, a psyker generates random psychic powers from amongst the spychic diciplines known to him; which are biomancy, telekinesis and telepathy (as far as i know).

A: Mastery Level 1.

Q: What Psychic Mastery Level is a Tervigon? (p52)
A: Mastery Level 1.

HT and tervigon can only cast one PP, so what do you mean with roll twice on PP's? (PP=psychic power's)

Level of Psycher is not related to number of powers generated. It only relates to how many powers can be cast on a given turn.

Tyrants and Tervigons can only cast one power per turn because they only generate one warp charge, but they could know several powers. For each power that they take from the Tyranid book (i.e. 2 for Hive Tyrants and 1-3 for Tervigon) they can choose to randomly generate from the basic rule book instead. If you take a Tyrant for example, he's got 2 powers to "trade" so he will generate 2 powers. They can be from any of the disciplines that he could generate from. You could take one biomancy and one telepathy, or two biomancy, or two telekineses, etc... you will then have 2 powers that the Tyrant "could" choose on any given game turn, but he would only be able to cast one power per turn because he only generates one warp charge being a level 1 psycher.

What do you guys think, is this a stronger tervi build or the one I have above.

The extra psychic power can be nice, but so are crushing claws. I don't have a tervigon (yet) and so haven't math-hammered the options, but I would probably weigh the cost of the extra power against the odds of getting the power I want for it, since in all likelihood, you'll just cast your one favorite power all game. So, the cost for the third power increases your odds. On the other hand, how you use your Tervigon could determine whether those points would be better spent on the claws to make it more dangerous in combat.

Might also want to consider (maybe once you go up to 1850) making one squad of termies devilgants (and possibly giving them a spore too).

In the 1850 list don't bother making the second Trygon a Prime, you already have enough Synapse. Also if you're rolling on Biomancy, you want at least 2 rolls, so the points saved on taking away said Prime status can buy you a second power on each Tervigon with 10pts to spare on whatever else.
