1000pts Army List. Feedback Please!

Hey, I used to play 'Nids in 4th edition, recently came back to WH40k.

Anyways, I've enrolled in a 1000 points tournament with my local club and was wondering if this was a feasible list...

Hormagaunt Brood (15) - Toxin Sacs = 120 pts.
Hormagaunt Brood (15) - Toxin Sacs = 120 pts.
Tyranid Warrior Brood (160 pts.)
Tyranid Warrior (4) - Devourer, Scything Talons = 120 pts.
Tyranid Warrior (1) - Barbed Strangler, Scything Talons = 40 pts.

995 pts.

Main opponents will be Ultramarines, Orks, Necrons, Tau and Blood Angels.

You have a spare 5 points... Why not use it on a gun upgrade or something? Such a nice round number seems silly to squander...

Good point, Deathspitter on the Prime?

Definitely put a deathspitter on the prime. In fact, knock off a couple of genestealers and give your warriors deathspitters and give the prime regen so you can catch shots with him, then look out sir some to the warriors while he regens his wound.

Infiltrating more than ten stealers can be problematic, in fact I might even split them in two, makes your opponent split fire, gives you another scoring unit, etc

Revised it to this... Removed toxin sacs on GS's as I'll be hitting T4 most of the time and split the squad, added Death spitters to warriors and regen to Prime.

I like the addition of the Zoan, but you may need more than one can opener.

I figured stealers worked as light can-openers, alongside the 2 Zoans and possible Doom...

Should I take anything out and replace it?

If that's your plan, this list may work well--especially in a 1k game. I would suggest getting a third Zoan (Dooms aren't synapse, unfortunately) and spreading them through your army for synapse and protection against vehicles and any threatening ICs.

On a preference note, I prefer a Hive Tyrant as my HQ--gives you psychic abilities and they last a lot longer than a prime, depending on how you build them. You have a nice list though, and remember to field models that you will enjoy playing. It's still a game, after all.

Looks like you are going for the swarm feel, right? You've built in a lot of nice synapse, and some pretty strong troops. I'd like to hear how this army works for you, so make sure to let us know what happens.

I was going for the swarm list, with the Doom landing right in between a bunch of their units (I've seen the players bunch everything up, they're a little new to strategy).

I have an alternative that involves cutting out the prime/warriors and using an HT...

Not sure if the hive commander upgrade is worth it/whether TS on genestealers is a bit over-pricey. Would I have enough synapse too?

That Tyrant NEEDS wings.

Today I destroyed a store member's Imperial Guard army with this list, if it helps:

Prime +4Warriors (one BS)
Flyrant with twin link Devs
Tervigon
Devilgantsx10
Hive Guardx2
DoM+Spore

No can do, rules state that if a model is written as having an upgrade it must be visible on the model and I can't get a flyrant by that time :/

Liking the use of the tervigon/hive guard, but once again, I don't have the models...

Do you have any gargoyles? Anything with wings? Any plastic or metal or cardboard cut-out wings even vaguely usable? The thing with Hive Tyrants is they either need the Armour upgrade and a guard, or else Wings. Otherwise they will die and fast.

It'd still be my only synapse on at at the start... If they're smart enough to target it then it's instinctive behaviour time. I guess I could try and get something to use for wings.

It won't die even if everything targets it. Swooping MC's are only hit one sixes. Mine lasted three turns with 54 dice thrown at it each time and took two wounds. Instinctive behaviour is absolutely fine with Feed as most of yours are. Synapse isn't everything. It's only useful for fearless, really.
