There is a doubles tournament in January that i will be attending as the partner of another Tyranid player! Im very excited as it will be my first tournament in a couple of years, and a real pressure test for my generalship with the Tyranids! Im told its not a super hardcore tournament like some of the big ones you hear about, but i have no doubt there will still be some hard armies, some cheesey lists and some skilled players. If anyone could help me tweak my 1250 or give me any advice please comment below!
Tournament Stipulations:
1250 Pts per Player 2500 points per team
Shared Force Organization as usual for us
1 HQ required
2 Troops Required
1 Elite
1 Fast
1 Heavy
With Floaters for Elite, Fast & Heavy (if not sure what I mean I can give examples)
NO Named or Unique Characters
NO Duplicates of Heavy Elite or Fast in 1 Army.
You may take a Landraider as a troop transport and a Heavy.
NO Allies
NO Fortifications
WYSIWYG
No Shared Abilities / transports friendly models mean from your own army list, even if you share the same codex.
------------------------------------------------------------
TYRANID DOUBLES TOURNEY LIST
1250pts
HQ- Hive Tyrant w/ Wings, 2x T-L Devourers w/ brain leech Worms, Hive Commander
285
TROOPS- 18 Hormagaunts w/ Toxin Sacs
144
TROOPS- 11 Devilgaunts w/ Mycetic Spore
150
TROOPS- Crushigon w/ Crushing Claws, Onslaught, Catalyst, Toxin Sacs, Adrenal Glands
235
ELITES- 7 Ymgarl Stealers
161
FAST ATTACK- 10 Gargoyles*
60
HEAVY SUPPORT- Trygon w/ Toxin Sacs
210
1245 pts
--------------------------------------------------------------
TACTICS:
Take Biomancy on both Hive Tyrant and Tervigon, dropping all the powers they have naturally/have purchased.
Keep the Hormies safe out of sight or behind a Gargoyle screen in turn 1, then unleash a synchronised deep strike with Trygon, Outflanking Tervigon, Devilgaunts and Ymgarls arriving on a 2+ on turn 2 due to Hive Commander. In games where i might be hoping to spawn more termagaunts immediately i may outflank the Hormagants instead!
My partner will hopefully also be a Tyranid player with a nice balanced list. He is bringing Hive Guard for sure.
He msg'd me a rough idea of what he will be fielding:
1 HT w BS/LW and HVC
1 Tyrant Guard
3 Hive Guard
2x Venomthropes
Tervigon w cat, AG, TS
15 Termagants
15 Termagaunts
13 Hormagaunts w TS
Trygon
That isnt set in stone, as he will likely need more playtests. I have playtested my 1250 and did serious damage to the orks i was against in a game of The Relic.
Thanks for reading Any and all feedback welcome!
