Hello hive, want some advice on my list for an upcoming game with a friend
Its 3500 points nids vs GK/tau allies, I think the split is about even with possibly a touch more points on tau.
My mate normally runs draigowing with 20 terminators, 2-3 psyfleman dreads and a couple of assassins. He also has a dreadknight, 2 stormravens, a landraider crusader and an inquisitorial chimera. He has only just got the tau so I have no idea what he uses, I don't think he has any experience of them either. I think his plan is to sit back with the tau and send the knights out to hammer anything they fancy
My list is as follows: -
Flyrant - lash whip/bonesword, brain leech devourer 245
Swarmy - 1 lw guard 345
Prime - deathspitter, boneswords, regeneration 105
Prime - deathspitter, boneswords, regeneration 105
Doom - mycetic spore 130
Zoanathrope - 60
Zoanathrope - 60
Venomthrope 55
Hiveguard x2 100
Deathleaper 140
Tervigon - adrenal glands, toxin sacs, 3 powers
Termagant x 10 - devourer, mycetic spore with tl deathspitter 150
Termagant x 20 - 100
Broodlord + 4 stealers - toxin sacs 131
Hormagaunt x 15 - toxin sacs 120
Hormagaunt x 15 - toxin sacs 120
Warrior x 4 - Barbed strangler 130
Shrike x 3 - boneswords, toxin sacs 150
Gargoyle x 10 - adrenal glands, toxin sacs 80
Ravener x 5 - rending claws, spinefists 200
Biovore x 3 - 135
Trygon prime - 240
Carnifex x 2 - 2x brain leech devourer
Total 3491 (I will try to add the extra 9 points in somewhere)
I'm planning on taking biomancy throughout, if I get lucky with swarmies rolls I might try out some telekinesis.
Swarmlord + 1 prime will walk up the board with a zoan to provide buffs and hormagaunts for tarpitting.
Tervigon with vanilla gants and a zoan will try to pincer opposite the swarmstar.
The other prime with form another deathstar with the 2 devilfexes and the venomthrope.
The warriors will provide synapse/fire support where needed.
The broodlord commando unit will infiltrate and hope to take something out.
Flyrant ,shrike and gargs will harass the flanks picking targets where possible. Flyrants main target will probably be stormraven/s.
I'm undecided about the trygon and raveners, whether to DS them or footslog. With the large amount of tau shooting I suspect it will fall quickly if foot slogging. Ive had a lot of success DS'ing the prime to pop psyfleman dread etc.
Biovores will do what biovores do, mainly targetting any exposed troops.
Ive based the list on the models I have (still got to use a couple of proxies) so its obviously not a fine tuned competitive list. Hopefully the three buffed deathstars (swarm/terv/fex) will prove durable enough to reach strike range and chew it all up. I'm not hugely worried about draigo, in the stormraven its minimum turn 2 till he comes in and turn 3 when he can assault which means more time to slog up the board. If he is in a landraider I will have to deal with that up close with monstrous creatures. I have no idea what tau are capable (never played them) so what should I be worried about and could I do anything more to protect against them?
Any thoughts?
