I love the idea of an army of Zombies...is it a coincidence that the following list works out this way points-wise?

Total: 980

If I want a bigger list I'm tempted to add in some Daemon help and take Epidemius and some Nurglings. Stick Epi and Typhus together for hilarity and watch the Zombies slaughter all.

You're serious about playing this, are you?... Well, the concept is fun, but I doubt its effectiveness, even without enemy tanks.

This is a very slow army. Plasma, Assault cannons and other Str6+ weapons melt zombies. And if Typhus dies you're screwed.

But, I would still play this, just for the novelty of having a 40K zombie army.

If you want to be sure epidemius and typhus get to tango, take just one big mob of plaguebearers for epidemius to boss around. Single unit of daemons with a character attached arrives on time with no dice rolling required. Plaguebearers are a lot like zombies right? Maybe they crawled out of the gutters..

Those lists look fun, but the typhus+epidemius combo is absolutely horrible if the list is build around it. Just make sure you don't abuse it by bringing normal cultists to the mix.

Would the Plague Zombies count as Followers of Nurgle for the benefits of the Tally? I've heard a few people say no...which is a really weird idea.

You can bring along some cultist upgrade guy and do something to get mark of nurgle for a swarm of those guys if you were interested in adding to the tally. I played against someone with nurgle marines with nurgle demon allies this past weekend and wow...I can vouch for the ridiculous strength of that when they are killing anything in numbers. Maybe you could run the cultist as zombies-count-as-cultists? Ever seen a swarm of nurgle guys with 5+ or 5++, and 3+ FnP? It's rough

I would advice against using normal cultists.

The most dirty trick you can do with a Typhus+Epidemius combo is buying a full squad of cultists and putting Typhus with them.
At the start of the game, after getting epidemius on board you clump the cultists around typhus and blow the destroyer hive.
Since nothing in the destroyer hives rules says you must be in combat to use it and Epi doesn't care who dies for the tally as long as the killer is nurglemarked you basically sacrifice cultists to nurgle.
This will likely give you enough kills to fill the tally and then you just stomp the enemy with horribly blessed nurgle(marines?), with poisoned weapons (and bolters that ignore armoursaves), etc...
It's kinda fluffy, it is easy to imagine Typhus using his cultists this way.
Nevertheless I would steer clear of this and just bring zombie spam Hordes are always funny.
