My first game in a decade: 1000pts

So I've booked myself in for a tutorial-esque game on Sunday, at 1000 points. No idea what I'll be up against, but I am very limited by what I have built. Luckily, I can muster 995 no problem, so huzzah! It's somewhat of an eclectic mix though... I don't expect to win, but hopefully will have fun and learn a thing or two.

The list I will be playing is:

Swarmlord
Lashguard x1
Tervigon (crushing claws, Catalyst)
Devilgauntsx10
Genestealersx6 (toxin sacs, one is a Broodlord)
Sky Slasher Swarms x3 (with Spinefists)
Doom of Malan'tai and a Mycetic Spore

Should be... interesting!

Are the Sky Slashers just a filler? I'm curious as to your strategy with them.

Right, so I played this, but had to alter it slightly because I ended up having to reschedule and rearrange to 750 points. What I ended up with was:

2 Tervigons, one with regenerate (Warlord)
10 Devilgaunts
1 Hive Guard
10 Gargoyles
Doom and Spore

He played Space Marines, and it was a tutorial game more than outwardly competitive. Long story short? I didn't get the Doom until automatic deployment (turn 4?), one of the Tervigons fluffed out of gaunts pretty early, and the other did well making units of 15 or so until it eventually died.

It was a bloodbath. He destroyed about five spawned gaunt units after focusing all fire on the Tervigons until they were killed. I kept them back and out of range to spawn gaunts, but had a couple of really unlucky psychic tests and took a couple of wounds off my own back.

When the Doom finally got out, it wrecked swear-filter up. It destroyed his warlord, his warlord's unit, and two rhinos before being one-shotted by a heavy tank. The spore died straight away though. The Devilgants did really well too, killing a unit of scouts and forcing a troop off the board. The spawned gants, however, became nothing but easy points for him. The Hive guard held his own, destroying the heavy tank, unfortunately too late. He won ten points to six. Fun though.
