This is more of an explanation of how my army styles over the past years in relation to my fluff here: Hive Fleet Mortis Fluff
The following is the army styles and how they relate to the fluff:
Genestealer horde:
When the Tau had conquered several Imperial Guard planets for the precious resources the Imperial Guard were mining, commander Mitello was outraged. Staring disgrace in the face, he would risk it all, pushing past a tyranid hive fleet to reclaim his precious worlds.nnGoing full speed into the Tau, he had little time to notice the tiny spores flung full speed toward the Imperial vessels.
Each spore contained a brood of genestealers. There was thousands of them. The worst part was that each vessel carried millions of colonists. This allowed the genestealer population to flourish. In a matter of days, no mans, woman or child was left alive. Only a hideous payload of one of the most dangerous creatures in the 41st Millenium.
When the fleet entered the Tau sector, the Tau attempted contacting for a peace treaty. Knowing the Tyranids we coming, to survive they had no choice. With no reply, the Tau were ready to open fire when they realized something. The vessels were not moving to battle mode. Able to kill only a handful of vessels, the Tau's worlds were bombarded with abandoned Imperial ships in a meteorite fashion. When the dust settled, the Tau had regained a small foothold. For many of the planets, it wouldn't be enough.
From the dust and debris of the crashed vessels, came the genestealers. Each vessel had close, to if not more than, a million genestealers. Many of the worlds perished in a matter of days. Others held out longer, but were either forced to retreat or could not and fell to the waves of unrelenting doom.
It came to one planet. Being a large planet and the main base of operations, this lava world was bristling with defenses. When the vessels hit, the Tau shot everything they had at the genestealer horde.
Unfortunately, the Imperial command vessel impacted the planet inside the Tau defensive parameters. When the genestealers came out, they ripped holes in the Tau architecture and borrowed their way through the defensive network. This allowed for yet more to pour into their fortresses. No Tau unit was a match for the Tyranid threat. The Tau were forced onto the lava fields.
In a last ditch effort, the Tau split their forces. The genestealers divided and split off into 3 prongs to attack each Tau force. Each of the genestealer swarms were lead by a broodlord. The Tau's trap worked. With the Tyranids split up, the Tau forces converged on one location fast than the Tyranids could close in. They then killed all the genestealer swarms before many could get to them and resulted in little casualties for the Tau.
This genestealer attack gave the Tyranids enough time to make it to the sector. The last of the Tau were surely doomed.
I'll post more later. Need a break.
