Has 6th edition made elite armies viable?

Has it?! I'm wondering if there's any good cheese in there we could use to build an elite warrior centric army without screening units.

One idea I had was to have a lot of zoans and two tyrants and go for as many biomancy rolls as possible to get endurance on as many units as possible. On top of a venomthrope's cover save maybe we could make our armies much tougher.

Nothings really changed for the Warriors in 6e. You'd have some luck here and there but many times you'd find your army shot to pieces very quickly.

If you want elite, go MC heavy.

You can have 2 warrior broods to hang back on objectives and 3 harpies/9 carnifex if you really want.

Nothing has really help warriors and endurance won't either since most long range guns aimed at them will be instant death usually.

Most lists you see now will be spamming Tervs. Harpy and Fex are cheaper, you just lose a lot of support elements. If you can get those elsewhere, such as Broodlords/Zoans then spamming other MCs can be fine. Just remember not to underestimate the importance of troops.

You'd be better served by getting Iron Arm rather than Endurance : +d3S, d3T both coupled with Eternal Warrior will keep your warriors alive longer than some 5+ cover saves and FnP.

You can't cast iron arm on other units, only the psyker himself.

Sadly the Terv is the same cost as the Fex, and is overall a much better unit for those points.

Fex have less upgrades usually and 50 points less termagants. The guy is building an 'elite' list so doesn't want those gants.

What has helped the warriors wasn't a rule change, but a meta change.

Many armies are gettIng away from anti tank( long range S8+) and moving towards anti infantry.

Since the weakness I warriors is S8 shooting.... This makes them more resilient.

Also bone swords are one of the few AP2 CC weapons that goes on base Init.

I would not count out the Warrior heavy army without trying it a few times.

I'm using 3 in my list and they have been doing fine. I might even improve the brood if they start seeing combat a bit.

A Warrior heavy army would be very easy to counter and many lists would laugh it off the board. A couple LRBTs alone, hardly rare, would wipe hundreds of points a turn with impunity. You'd find yourself with some wins, some ties and plenty of crushing losses.

I dunno, you could take 2 Flyrants, 2 Harpies, then 4 podded warriors broods. That would be workable, for me at least.

I love Warriors but wouldn't run them as my only troop choice, that's quite a gamble. Most armies could ignore your FMCs, wipe your Warriors and win nearly by default. We all know Troops are important for wins and Warriors are a fragile basket to put all your eggs in. I'm not arguing against Warriors at all, but a Warrior army is just asking for some one sided battles.
